Hi all, still trying to sort out thr front brake on my 550K3, the wheel caliper piston is stuck all the way in, how do I get it out? I think it is partially seized. Also the front disc plate was rubbing on the fork bottom, I slacken the front wheel clamps and tap the spindle slighty which released it but how much tolerance should you have between the disc plate and fork bottom leg?

Or what other models caliper fit the 550K3?

Anyone got any ideas on the disc plate and lower fork outer clearance?

Only reasons for disc rubbing are incorrect assembly or shot wheel bearings

The clearance between disc outer face and fork leg inner should be about 5mm. I couldn't measure mine accurately and its on a CB500K but I'm pretty sure its the same as the parts are mostly interchangeable.

That detail has been bugging me, I think Brian is right, in the normal course of things the front wheel will only sit in its proper place, so if its able to move then either a part is in wrong way around or a wrong part is fitted, or you have very knackered wheel bearings indeed. I would suspect wrong bits or a spacer fitted backwards, or the wheel nut wrongly fitted.

I Agee with Ken I had exactly the same problem when I had new tyre fitted and just took the wheels in . The fitter reassembled the spindle wrongly. Had me scratching my head for ages.

I think your right about the spindle being fitted the wrong way round. I have just visited David Silver's museum in Leiston, Suffolk and looked at his CB550 and noticed it was the other way round. I bought the bike earlier this year and have realised quite a few things butchered on the bike. Cheers for all the help.
By the way David has got a nice lot of bikes up there in the museum, even one that used to sit in my garage until a Top Gear presenter bought it then sold it to David. Lol
