Was the big load a tank? Maybe rear tracked APC?

I also worry about poor maintenance by some people, but it just means buying an old bike, we will need to take more time scrutinising.

Thanks :)
If only the garage door held any bloody heat in it would be alright in there!
The bike tucks away on the left and my treadmill and turbo trainer fit behind, it's the home gym too!

Yep, the alloy putty stuff.
I used it try to make sure it would give the same as the alloy tree, smoothed all the edges where I took off the top material to hopefully avoid any stress risers.

Was just reading another thread on a chaps CL350, there is a shot from a magazine feature with a real nice set of moustache bars.

Brilliant thread buddy, great to see the enthusiasm of your lil lass.

My CD had the bolt through bar clamps in the top tree and as I have clip ons I didn't like the holes being there so used the alloy in a tube stuff that you mix like putty to fill then painted the tree after a bit of grinding.

My clip ons are fully adjustable and a pain in the ass (look rubbish and come loose), I'd go for fixed ones once you know if you can get comfy on them

The treads look great, did you get the longer shocks?  The clearance looks reasonable.

CB500/550 / CB550K3 LED lighting Upgrade.

You talking about the indicator idiot light?
You can, but you will need to use 2 diodes and Earth the LED in your system.

I went from 6v to 12v on my CD175 and put all LED bulbs in at the same time. I was having charging problems and couldn't run with the headlight on for longer than 30mins before it effected the bike's running.  With LED it has made a huge difference, can run with the lights on indefinitely now.
The LED headlight is much more powerful, the claim is 2100 lumens and down from a 40w draw to 17w.
Don't have a pic, but the fan is on the back of the bulb unit and it only makes it 15-20mm longer, wasn't a problem to fit in the same space in the headlight bucket.

As the title says, looking for as air box for a CD175.
As its a single carb bike the single cheap pod filter (previous owner fit) is one of the suspect items for my poor running at higher RPM so I would like to go back to stock.

Can pick up East Midlands, or will pay postage for the right bits.
Thanks.

CB500/550 / Gasket, seal, skim or bin?

industrially, we always used grinding compounds as it tends to "suction" the two together while working them, you could almost feel the drag when something was flat!

Completely agree, I remember finding this and writing it up in my work book as an apprentice when my head fitter said well done for spotting it.
I was always told 'figure 8' pattern though, we'd get something thrown at us for circling while lapping bronze pistons slippers for hydraulic pumps.

Sorry OP, not much of use for you in my reply!
I would move away from paper if you have paste.
The glass is just a flat lapping block, just much cheaper than an industrial one, it is tough enough to take paste as long as you keep using as much of the surface as you can, try figure 8's
