Title: Recovered Seat (no it wasn't stolen) !
Post by: MCTID on November 30, 2019, 05:07:14 PM
Just had my 1979 Suzuki GS750 Seat recovered by 'Bob the seat'.......his E Mail is       morettidirect@aol.com

He was really switched on, good communications and he delivered a great job on my rotten tired old seat, which really spoiled the venerable Old Lady after 40 years service.

Happy to recommend his services........the Seat Cover was £50 and £50 to fit it for me.........the side trims were another £25 as they are a swine to fit, but I just wanted a professional job, and that's what I got.....I showed it to the bike (laid up for the winter) and I'm sure it smiled back at me !!!!

We have used Bob and his products many times for different things and would not consider using anyone else.

I would be interested to learn if Bob can do vinyl repairs - my K1's original seat has a 1" (ooops, sorry: 25mm) split at a welded seam, so guess it needs vinyl welding as it's far too good to let get worse.

Cheers,
Andrew

Yea .... he said the same to me about four years ago for a 500 foam.

Initially I sent Bob the seat an E Bay message to his E Bay advert for a GS750 Seat Cover (mine is a GS750E with a raised hump and a different pattern on the top) and we had a bit of toing and froing......which was bit annoying as he seemed to be reluctant to say yay or nay to my question, but because of the other post on here today about E Bay withholding Buyers E Mail and Phone Numbers, his comment may throw some light on this dilemma.

Once Bob and I started communicating via private E Mails, things were much better but interestingly Bob said "I do not list a GS750E cover but do make one, will make one up and list it when I have time very busy at present, obviously you do not know E Bay terms and conditions, I am only allowed to answer questions about products I have listed".

"E Bay ban you if they think you are trying to deal outside of them, they have already suspended me three times just for trying to help customers with questions". !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whilst I can understand E Bay wanting to protect their business, it would appear that their 'Stasi' policy isn't actually helping their Customers or their Sellers conduct mutually beneficial business. Maybe if enough of us comment on the E Bay Policy and provide constructive Feedback, they may have a rethink....at least for those of us involved in the Classic Bike Arena.......personally I'm not too bothered about saving E Bay Fees....I just want to buy or sell parts and I want to do it easily and efficiently......the number of times I have simply looked elsewhere when I have hit the brick wall of trying to communicate with an E Bay Seller or Buyer is just plain stupid.

I won't put in print how I eventually bought and paid for this Seat Cover....but I'm sure you'll figure it out !

Maybe those who have experienced problems with Bob the seat in the past might want to drop him an E Mail direct - morettidirect@aol.com
