:o i wish my loft was like yours, that's a early CB750 head circa 1970 note the bolt missing from the front of the head between spark plug 2-3
all engines made before engine #1026143 had one less head bolt , it should not be black BTW ;) nice find

the only visual difference is the tamper proof air screws on the k6(they can be tampered with) , they probably use 110~105 leaner jets  as the bikes changed with emission laws ,all early CB750's came with 120 main jets so any carbs from k2~k6 should be ok for you

re:f2 exhaust fitting a f1 :o I have a sidecar combination with a f2 engine and I needed to weld the motad f2 exhaust the other week,in the mean time i thought i would fit a nice reverse mega 4-1 i had laying around off a early CB750 (1970) , i am positive these are the same size head ports as the f1, but smaller than the f2,and on closer inspection the downpipes of my 4-1 mega are too small at the head ports ,in fact i could fit the CB750 downpipes inside the the f2 downpipes,so i think motad could be telling you porkies >:( lucky you never won the auction i say ::) I'm sure someone else can confirm this as well.

I had a BSA 650 and it was quite difficult to start
;) exactly we don't want to go down that road again  yes been there done that and had the t-shirt,
i had a  1968 BSA spitfire, i often kicked my guts out trying to start it,and i regularly pushed it home,it just wanted to vibrate itself to pieces, when it did run it handled like it was on rails ,fast easy to wheelie and ground the pegs, ;D "jap crap" for me "britt sh*t" no contest

Lovely bike, such a nice sound as well from them. I watched a video of a road test of a 750, but what are they actually like to ride and own, from an owners point of view.

;) the early cb750's sound a lot nicer than the k2's~ they have more of a howl from the pipes when you give them some stick, and i like the riding position high bars and the big comfy seat they are more suited for touring i have done some high mileage runs on these bikes, by todays standards they dont go or stop anything like my 07 1200 bandit, but for cruising around at more legal speeds its perfect,i get over 50 to the gallon and a back tyre can last over 4000 miles i havent changed a front tyre in years and brakes last forever, one of my 750's has already done over 50,000 miles and another has over 44,000 miles all they need is regular oil changes
the only real down-side  ,these bikes are over forty years old ,so you need to be pretty positive with your gear changes, pick your spot when to overtake and give yourself i bit of room for brakeing, saying that my cb750 sidecar outfit has awesome brakes (twin discs on the front) i think compared to brittish classics they cant be beat ,things like electric start are a godsend if you have ever seen someone trying to start a big twin ;D

::) there is too much of this on EBAY lately, there is nothing in them pics that tell me its a K0,apart from the seat and the "j" registration plate,at best its a K1 with K2 bits,i would say its a USA import "over priced and over here" its a bike shop FFS ,they cant even be ars*d to provide the frame #, i cant see me buying off them any time soon  ;)

::) 4 times in 30 years, yes been there done that and had the t-shirt.I'm surprised you did not hear the camshaft seizing up, they make one hell of a squeal before they give up the ghost  (a sound i will never forget or want to hear again) mine snapped as i tried to get home i was only about two miles away so limped home on two cylinders, the problem in my case was stripped threads on the cam cap bolts and a bit of crap welded its self too the camshaft, ,everything under the rocker box had worked loose from previous owners rebuild it had run for six years so cant be to harsh on him ,the head has since been heli-coiled so better than before , you will learn from this ,so don't feel to peeved,i think it has happened to quite a few of us .i would say most likely bent valves aswell in my case anyway.just make sure them oiljets are clear and be ultra clean on the rebuild i always spin my engines over on the bench with the battery connected to the starter motor and check for plenty of oil on the camshaft, before installing the engine, this used to be a bit of p*ss years ago, with plenty of old chops about for spares and gasket sets only costing twenty quid ,just swap heads or even engines and off you go not any more lol   ;)

::) just my thoughts , i can recall that the U.S.site was the only one around years ago, even before the sandcast site ,i thought i was the odd one out until you guys showed up :-* yes the yanks loved them big CB750's and grabbed them with both hands while here in the U.K. they was saying" jap crap" never catch on?its no wonder we was the last country to get the CB750 and many other models, yes strange spelling and strange words for parts , but lets face thats where the market was and probably still is,the Britt's cornered the market there years ago and left Mr Honda take it from them, it is a wealth of knowledge for that reason, and "you meet the nicest people on a Honda" ;)
