CB750 / Re: Engine installation time
« on: March 16, 2015, 09:49:22 PM »
Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated. I have heard of tipping the bike on its side but did wonder if it was an urban myth.
Unfortunately the lack of space might mean lifting the booger in. :(

Haynes66. That is a very kind offer but my cousin and son are available to help me. My cuz was supposed to come around this evening to help me do it but it has now been postponed till Tuesday evening.  :)

CB750 / Engine installation time
« on: March 15, 2015, 09:44:26 PM »
Hi guys n gals, the time is almost here for me to put the engine back in the frame, having never been in this position before as I bought the bike with the engine already out of the frame I was wondering if there is any preferred method of man handling this heavy lump back into the frame. I have an aftermarket hardtail so not to much on the restriction side. Is there a preferred side to slide in from, which bolt to secure first etc. I do have a chronic back problem  and heavy weights are a no no for me, so I will not be alone when fitting it back in. Any advice or guidance greatly appreciated. I do have an electric winch hanging from the rafters so it that can help me I will use it. This won't be a final fitting as there are still lots to do to the frame before being stripped again for painting.
 :D

CB750 / A cylinder question
« on: January 28, 2015, 11:47:02 AM »
My mechanic that is rebuilding my engine has asked me this question.
"Are the cylinders plated or have cast liners"
I have been led to believe that the engine is a K6
 :)
Answers on a postcard to......

Just been told my oil pump is toast as well  :(

Just to change the subject a wee bit, on a historical note, I am sure a few of you on here know or have heard of M&P and Busters (one and the same) well going back to mid 70's M&P had not long set up shop in Swansea and I knew Mark (the M in M&P) from school. Well I needed a new system for my 500/4 and he sold me one of his first Motad system sales and then gave me the nickname of "Motad Mike" See, history being made here...lol

UKPete, no it wasn't me. I want to go old skool, just like I used to dream off when I built the beeza but could never afford the new jap fours. I would go with a king and queen seat but my back can't take to many potholes anymore. Old age don't come alone.
Here's a few pics of my beeza.

Some pics as it was when first built 3 years ago, only done 160 miles from rebuild but some dreaded silicon must have blocked an oilway and caused a slight inconvenience.
The stripped pic is as it is now.

Hi people.
Just popped in to say hello.  :)
Been into bikes since I was 16, yep a Honda SS50 started it all way back in 1974. Been through a few Honda's since then, had a 500/4, a 750c and fairly recently got rid of a CB750kz. I have always been into custom bikes, I built a trophy winning BSA A10 650 back in the late 70's and have hankered after another chopper ever since selling it to emigrate in 1980. My current ride is a Hyosung GV650 and after a recent heart scare decided it was time again to have another chopper before I peg it. :o So after scouring the bay of fleas I am now the owner of a 1976 CB750. I know there are a few purists bike builders on here but hope you will accept my fetish openly.  ;)
The bike I have was bought with a serious problem of a snapped camshaft, but all the pieces to fix it was supplied with it. I know sweet fa about engines so have left it in the hands of my cousin to get the we beasty back into service. I have changed quite a bit on it since getting it and plan on giving it the full blown blue candy on silver flake job. I'm sure there will be questions along the way and will keep you up to date with the build.
Cheers
Mike
