Pure copper gasket, yes. Annealing it softens it so seals better when head bolted down.

Ted, don't use them on a warm engine. Could get messy! 🤣

CB350/400 / Re: Replace Kickstart shaft« on: May 15, 2024, 12:00:13 AM »
First thing to do is remove the kickstart lever from the shaft and inspect the splines. You will quickly tell if the splines are worn on the shaft or the lever knuckle.
If the kickstart lever is u/s a replacement will be hard to find. CB350F levers are slightly different but fit and are easier to find. 4

Probably a silly question, but is the sprocket the same both sides?

CB500/550 / Re: Rear brake hub anchor bar clip 94251-08000« on: May 10, 2024, 05:10:33 PM »Thanks, interestingly the download parts book shows an R clip at the hub end & a split pin at the frame end! That's so you can quickly disconnect the hub end to remove wheel. No need to disturb the frame end. 6

There were some beauties at my local bike meet on Wednesday. Shame about the jacket draped over the Duke.

Paraffin is a lot less flammable than petrol. I always used Paraffin in the past, but now I ride less miles I just use aerosol chain cleaner and chain lube.

Yes, always apply lube to the inner run of chain. 👍 Lube applied to outside run of chain just gets flung off easily. Skoti, you make me nervous using petrol to clean chain , then using naked flame on camping stove! 🤔 11
Out & About / Re: SOHC meet in Scotland« on: May 08, 2024, 01:17:31 PM »Gareth I'm OK with that. Will that be a problem for anyone else? If anybody has made bookings and can't change them, we'll stick to 30th. 12
CB500/550 / Re: Oil Pressure Switch Intermittent« on: May 07, 2024, 12:32:24 AM »
Oil pressure will reduce as the oil gets hotter and "thinner". It's worth checking the switch and the oil pump.
If they are not the problem you might have a bigger problem developing. 13
CB500/550 / Re: Im a diesel idiot !!!!« on: May 06, 2024, 08:17:14 PM »Personally I would consider draining out the tank and start with new petrol - diesel is not good for the piston rings. Is that true Ted, or just a feeling? One litre in a full tank of about 18litres can't make too much difference. Not recommended, but not disastrous. 14
Out & About / Re: exploring Scotland« on: May 06, 2024, 01:45:41 AM »One of my favourite rides is from Tyndrum heading east to Killin and then turning off at LixToll towards Aberfeldy, lunch in historic Kenmore by the castle gates and then into Aberfeldy turning right for Crieff over the high road and then back to Tyndrum and Oban.. Yes, that's a lovely route, and the roads for me to get there. Killin and the Falls of Dochart are a good place to stop. 👍 On the nadgery little road on the other side of Loch Tay is the Cave where Monty Python filmed the killer rabbit scene in Holy Grail! 15

I'd never heard of Ailsa Craig outboard motors before. To me it's an island just off the West coast of Scotland that is a major source of granite for curling stones. Not heard of the veggies either!
