CB750 / swingarm needle/roller bearings
« on: August 24, 2019, 07:28:30 PM »
has anyone replaced the swingarm bearings with either a roller or needle bearing? and if so, which bearing did you use?  i know standard practice is to use phosphor bronze but i'm working on something that needs a bearing. thanks

Misc / Open / break in
« on: August 15, 2019, 05:51:04 PM »
made a bit of a soul destroying discovery a few weeks ago when i noticed a big hole in the back of one of my sheds. the lawnmower and pressure washer were gone but not such a big deal, but the thieving gits took a few supermarket size crates full of bike bits which are probably on ebay by now. thankfully both my frames and engines were in a more secure shed close to the house so that's a relief. i have loosely assembled enough parts from my stash of spares to complete one bike (honda britain) but annoyingly, i have no swingarm dust seals! hence my ad in the wanted section. the other bike (phil read rep) is going to inherit some cbr600 running gear for the time being, as i want to use that one as a weekend ride.  it never rains.....

Misc / Open / shed/workshop
« on: February 13, 2019, 06:50:49 PM »
i'm looking at building a much bigger timber framed workshop around 22' x 10' which will allow me to line up 4-5 bikes side by side.  the plan was to lay a concrete slab but it is super expensive, albeit permanent.  i am looking at concrete piers instead but not sure if the floor would be up to the job.  anyone done something similar?

CB750 / cylinder head studs
« on: February 08, 2019, 05:38:15 PM »
i'm finally back in the shed after a very long break and i've yet to put my F2 cases together.  i know i've been told that my standard cylinder studs should be ok, but having seen some of them twist slightly when trying to get them out, i'm really tempted to bite the bullet and get some APE ones.  more for piece of mind than anything else, and i know i'd be kicking myself if a standard one snapped. any other recommendations?

CB750 / engine case assembly
« on: July 12, 2018, 06:00:57 PM »
my hondabond arrives tomorrow hopefully, and i've been putting the cases together for a bit of practice. i have one concern. the centre gear selector is just hanging in the breeze and locates on the shaft in the upper case on assembly. i'm assuming that if the cases close up nicely, it means the selector is in its rightful place. if it wasnt in the right location, would the cases close anyway?

Interchangeability / headstock roller bearings
« on: June 22, 2018, 08:54:10 PM »
after messing about with my superdream project, i noticed that the 750f2 headstock fits straight on. i had a look on DS and the part numbers are the same but so is the price. however, other dealers might sell the superdream items a bit cheaper.
