Hi,
I'm trying to rectify a squeaky front brake on my K6.
Probably a stupid question but should the piviot shaft be able to move both ends?
The top bit with 2 holes moves fine but the bottom is locked solid?

Take top and bottom part out and clean up and grease it well. It should swivel top and bottom.

Put the bottom into a vice to hold, remove top (two hole part) see if you can get the seal out that's underneath that after removing, then spray penetrating oil into the seal gap. Keep doing that for a while then you should be able to rotate the arm on the spindle to free it and get the two apart for cleaning.

By "bottom" I mean the opposite end of the pivot shaft to the two hole end.

The seal is a small O ring, it has been known to drill and tap thr arm for a grease nipple

Thanks. That shaft hadn't been greased in years by the look of it. I've cleaned it up and re-assembled with copperslip and new O rings for now but tapping a grease nipple is a good idea.
Worryingly the previous owner said it had been given a recent front brake overhaul!

So another small issue. The front mudguard is rubbing on the tyre, mainly the brake line keeper but the muguard is also close.
is my mudguard damaged or have I refitted it wrong?
