The bike is a former US import,I have read were they liked to put stronger springs in clutches in the states so that could account for the extra spring length, are the plate quantities correct metal/fibre?

Would forum members please be good enough to checkout to photos I have attached to this thread. I am interested in service limits and plate quantities, I have purchased a new clutch cable as the one fitted took two hands to pull in,however when I inspected it no snagging was evident, does this early model have a paticular issue with the clutch?

I did mine last week using a mixture of apple cider vinegar and white vinegar I only mixed the two types because I’d run low on one of them ,they both had a acid rating of 5% , I emptied(after 4 days) the tank and swilled it out with broken car glass and distilled water, put the hairdryer in the neck of the tank, when dried coated in a thick 2 stroke oil lightly thinned out with petrol. Great final result.

Ok I will attempt to turn the large external adjuster screw later in appears to be seized up. Incidentally what diameter should the ball bearing be?

You are probably right but the collar dropped out when I started degreasing the mechanism.

I've discovered why the clutch isn't working on my project bike 1 the cable looks like it's been under artillery fire, 2 a small collar is missing where(see photo) the ball bearing sit's. I will have to see if Silvers have a pair. There is a rim on the outer edge which would be difficult to match.

They (points) came already fitted to the bike some I assumed they were standard points.
