Now that we are full swing stage two Covid lockdown I'm not so busy at work (I'm a software developer by day) so I thought I'd knock up a little web tool so I can see what's for sale on eBay that I may be interested in. I purchased and old lawn mower on eBay from a lady clearing out some of her father-in-laws stuff, this was way back towards the beginning of Lockdown One.
It was an old 1965 Webb Battery electric thing, it's bloody marvelous and still works, anyway I received a letter yesterday from the lady and in it was the original manual for the mower.
Now, I think I can say that most people would just have binned it, but no, she must have gone to effort of looking up the order on eBay to get my address to send me the manual.

So I have a gs500e K3 2003. that won't start.
I've done the usual checks and I'm at the point where I've done a compression test and the right hand cylinder was down to below 60PSI. did the add a squirt of oil thing and it did not change so valves, yes?
Stripped the head . new valve stem oil seals, a de-coke and relapped the valves.
Reassembled recheck the compression and it's the same, no improvement.
Here's the question. one of the shim buckets was very, very stiff to get out and back in. Is it possible that the bucket is not returninh completly back and holding a valve open?

Still a few bikes on the roads in the morning, but by-eck it's getting cold, nearly put the heated grips on, but trying to hold out until the clocks change.

Has anyone had experience with Hendler Gasket sets in the past. I've normally used Athena kits in the past.
Fitting a set of valve stem oil seals in a GS500 and all to use have done this.
I don't think I was heavy handed and I do use a seal push on tool.
Nothing like this has ever happened before

I was bored today,. this Covid thing has given me a bit of spare time, so I set about google-ing myself and I ended up here.
Wow, this has changed a lot, I remember when I first set the original site up way back before the millennium and then I got distracted and SteveD took it over, I'm impressed.
I don't have an SOHC anymore but still massively into bike, but just thought I'd pop by and see how you all are.

Sorry to everyone, As you may have noticed the site went down for a couple of days, this was due to a bit of a cock up on my part and forgot to update my payment details with my hosting company, and then managed to get my card cloned and stopped. So after missing a couple of payments my provider stopped the site. Anyway all sorted now, "Carry On Regardless"  John

Do you nod to other bikers?
I've been biking for 20+ years and I've always nodded on coming motorcyclists whether they are big bike or little 50cc scooters, I don't expect a nod back but it's nice.
Yesterday I did 120 miles a big round trip via Cleethorpes and Hull, I must have see 100+ bikes of various sizes and I can say that less that 10 returned a Nod.
I got to thinking, the Returning nodders were all Bikes that were either Classic or at least 80's early 90's, the GPZeds and GS types and Biker that were clearly all weather riders / commuters.
So are the others the summer only riders, you know the sort, 40 something, sunny day only, colour coordinated leathers, matching pillion dolly, average annual mileage 200 miles between May and September?

A friend of mine went thru a MDs drive in today, when he got to the kiosk they refused to serve him because he was on his bike - The child behind the till reckoned it was because they weren't insured.

This weekend in and around Lincoln see a Silver/Grey CB350(ish) not sure what, as it was doing some agressive filtering in my direction, a yellow 400/4 and a Beut of a 750 on a T plate at Hemswell Market

On the DOHC CB650, I'm developing a rattle when the throttle shut, particulaly when going up the gears, or when the thottle is shut off when changing down when comming to a stop.
Is this beginning of small end wear?

I was filling up the car at the Morrisons Petrol Station Tritton Road Lincoln this morning and there was a chap filling his P plate blue 400/4. Lovley Bike, sounded great.
Are you here on here by any chance?
