Other Bikes / Cool Runnings or Slow running Issues
« on: March 05, 2009, 04:41:35 PM »
No, Not the film about a Jamacian bobsleigh team,

The CB650 has been running great while the weather has been nice, tried to go to work the morning (-1 'king cold) everything was fine until I hit traffic and had to slow down, very ropy running wouldn't idle, It was doing this earlier in the year but only on REALLY cold days - plugs really foul up as if choke is open

Have cleaned the carbs on the gs450, but i can't keep the dam thing running. It will start on choke and run, but when i put the choke in it starts to back fire the dies.

Misc / Open / Air Bag Jackets??? - What do we reckon?
« on: February 18, 2009, 09:52:47 AM »
When I heard I was sceptical, but when I saw the Newsbeat programme I thought Mmm, could be a good Idea.

I'm not convinced about the wairbag site, it's a bit heavy on the "You will have an accident" rather than promoteing the product. (Be carefull if you go there, I tried it in IE7 and FF3 and it crashed the browser).
While I'm Whinging
"Not Impressed by the Image of a motorcyclist doing a full somersalt, never seen that happen as the rider, normally slide up the tank and end up tangled in the handlebars, Pillion maybe?"

Anyway

Other Bikes / Fuel in the Sump
« on: February 17, 2009, 04:27:19 PM »
Finally got some time to look over the GS450 I bought last month. I decided to change the oil before trying to start it. Removed the sump plug to drain it and drained what can only be describes as 4 liters of Petrol/Oil mix.

How did that get in there? ???  ???

Misc / Open / Helicoil Kits
« on: January 28, 2009, 11:55:07 AM »
Any one ever done there own Helicoil-ing? I've got a couple of sparkplug holes that need doing, is it worth buying a kit and DIY or is a job for the experts?

Other Bikes / Hydraulic Clutch
« on: January 23, 2009, 12:36:39 PM »
Anyone had experience bleeding a Hydraulic clutch? I've got a CB650 and the clutch is only active in the first half inch of pull on the lever.

It has new plates and I've attempted to bleed it several times

Misc / Open / Leaking Carbs (oh God a nighthawk question)
« on: July 16, 2008, 06:16:57 PM »
Well not so much as leaking, more like P##sing out.

Finally got some spare time, so I thought I'd prep the wife's CB650 (yes it's the Nighthawk), ready for its MOT. It's been under cover in the shed since July last year, but what with rising fuel prices she's decided to get back into the saddle.

Anyway, no problem starting it up, even though I think the choke is stuck open, but it absolutely pisses fuel from number two carb, but only when the engine is running. Revs up fine too, and as soon as you switch the ignition off the leak stops ( I said go with it, it's still doing less to the gallon that the car - Kidding ).

Not had time to strip it yet, but as far as I can see the leak is not from the float overflows.

Has any one else experienced anything like this (Think of it as a fuel/carb/vacuum tank issue and not a Nighthawk problem)

Look forward to your advice, and any derisory comments about nighthawks. :D

CB750 / I'm Selling up !!!!!
« on: February 04, 2008, 06:06:27 PM »
I've decided to sell up. Not the site.. don't panic. (although I'm open to offers on that too) No, I need to raise some cash and make some room, so the SOHC's need to go.

I have a complete CB750 F1 1976 (P) with an F2 front end in it, It is tatty, but it's what I call a running resto. I was rideing last year. It's stored in my shed at the mo been there since last August.

Also A CB750 F2 (T reg) completly stipped down, about 90% there, except the front end is in the F1 and It suffered from a dropped valve, hence the comple strip and nicking the front to put in the F1.

I'm offering them to you guys first, If I don't get what I need I'll break up and put on ebay. If you want to make me an offer(s) email john[at]sohc[.]co[.]uk

Cheers

John

PS I'll post some pictures at the weekend.

I've slavaged the old gallery, only one draw back, there is no bridge between the forum and the gallery, which means you'll have to register again to use the gallery.

I suggest you use the same username and password  you used to register for the forum.

Where is it, well it's here -> http://gallery.sohc.co.uk/ - Enjoy, but remember I'm not photo bucket, we do have a limited amount of space so don't abuse it.
