You should move up here. You could pay the mortgage on the insurance savings alone.

Crickey!!!! over 600 quid. How old are you 17?

No seriously. My 1200 GT fully comp over 7 years ncd is only 200. and last year I had the k100 and the R1150 it was still only around 280.

I'm with Bennetts Multibike and that includes declaration of  De-ABSing. I was with a preferred insurer with the IAM and was even cheaper but they disowned me when I declared the ABS-Ecomy.

And Swinton wouldn't /  couldn't cover the K100

It all down to covered value and mileage though.

Originally the site was a CMS and got hacked a couple of times and I was ready to jack it all in, but it was SteveD and a couple of other members that spurred me on to keep it going, I remember Steve advising to try this forum software it's on now for a long time there was only about a dozen members, I can't believe how big it's got.

I had an '76 F1 in those days the whole reason for stating the site and an F2 wish I'd kept the F2 to be honest but I needed some cash and wanted to get back into full time riding, I sold them both and put the money into a Deauxville, gave Steve the website and rode off into the sunset.

Can't remember who I sold the bikes too, but I'm sure it was someone on here who lived in Scunthorpe

And yes, it's the best forum I've been on in a long time

Julie is right, until last year I working in the UK parcel industry and batteries can no longer be sent with acid separately. I remember when the ban was introduced because because it happened very quickly and caught a lot of folk out,  I'm surprised you did and wonder if it's old shelf stock.

I bought a battery from Halfords at the weekend for the GS500, tiny little thing but it still came in the same sized box as if it would have had acid, I bet they've been through their stock and filled them to comply.

I've been in touch with the guys who sold me the kit and they are going to replace the seals, they've been great to be honest, no mucking a round. I could have got a refund but you can never have too many spares in the cupboard.

So this a big up to Motorcycle Products  https://www.motorcycleproducts.co.uk

Thanks @flatfour. Yes. the iABS  of that period either lasts forever or dies cataclysmicly

I've got a good local mechanic who checks them out for me, and my insurance company has been notified and that's another tail for another day

Thanks Man. the reason it was given to me was exactly that.  I've already performed an ABS-Ecomy on it and not not the first. My K1200 went the same way.
It breaks my heart to a big bike crippled my manufacture stupidity

Covid has not been to bad for me, I 'm a software developer for a living so working from home was never an issue, I did acquire a couple of new toys though.

A new fangled battery electric lawn mower and BMW R1150RT, and the mower cost more that the Beemer

Misc / Open / Hendler gasket sets

Has anyone had experience with Hendler Gasket sets in the past. I've normally used Athena kits in the past.

Fitting a set of valve stem oil seals in a GS500 and all to use have done this.

I don't think I was heavy handed and I do use  a seal push on tool.

Nothing like this has ever happened before

I'm not sure how 3 and a 1/2 can be classed as too many, I guess I'm just lucky ;) But when the go wrong it a drain on the finances and the soul. I was given a R1150RT half way through lockdown by a mate who just didn't want the hassle anymore, ABS failure among other things it's the 2nd Abs-Ecotomy I've performed in the last couple of years.

Nice to hear that Steve. I'll certainly check out the post. Inspite of the weather I've a busy weekend, I'm currently sat at home waiting for Postman Pat to deliver GS500 gasket set, I have a Suzuki in need to more compression.
