Hi people, I was wondering whether there is any advantage to using Pods rather than the OEM air filter. They look quite cool but I'm not sure either way. by the way should the OEM air filter housing have a lid. I don't have one on mine.

OEM air set up is really the only way to go, unless you want to keep fiddling and fettling with carbs and jets and such like and then still no guarantee you will get it running correctly. They really do hate anything other than standard. Yes, air filter box has a lid.

Thanks Julie, I will add a lid to my shopping list

What Julie said.
Another drawback with pod filters is having to protect them from water ingress when you wash the bike.

Had to make the same decision myself. Pod filters look cool......but have issues. I have had many bikes in the past with them fitted, and have yet to have one that didn;t run rich in the midrange and on the over-run. Never had major problems with wet weather.....but if it was parked outside in the wet...I did have a carrier bag under the seat.
I got an airbox for mine :)
