Hi

I'm having charging problems with my CB550k, I have done all the steps from this link (http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=134836.0) to figure out the problem.
So I'm getting continuity between the stator yellow wires and the stator case, it means my stator needs to be replaced? None of the visible wires are touching the case.

Tnks.

I don't think you want to remove that pin.

Look down into the top of the slide and there are two screws, undo them on all carbs and you may  e able to turn the lift mechanism fully out of the way to get the needles.

Are you adjusting for pods?

OOOOK! I better do not touch that screw and needle yet :P

I'm just trying to adjust everything to the pods, I know it will never be perfect, I don't really care about the look, but that's the way I bought the bike, would love to have the original filters.

I run at the moment with #90 Main and #42 Slow, and I have #100 and #110 main, and #40 slow on the way from 4into1. I Will see how it goes, I have a 4into4 exhaust, any tips on the jetting?

Tnks.

Happy Easter everyone.

I'm trying to do some tunning on my carb, but I can't get the needle out. Do you have any idea how to reach the needle on this carb (see image)? I know that the arm-looking thing needs to come up removing the first bolt, and then? I tried to slide the part that connects together but did not work (red in the picture)...

Any tips would be very appreciated.
Cheers.

It is looking awesome. I really like the colours you have chosen and the seat suits very well, did you make that yourself?

True, could be that. I live by the sea, was very misty and cold when I tried. I found someone talking about Silkolene Pro FST on a Kawasaki forum. I just bought some online, I will try to run a few miles with that and see how it goes. Definitely not the best time of the year for a ride 😑

Thank you for all the help.

Not at all!
It's around 7 degrees Celsius at the moment. Is that possible? 😕

CB500/550 / Stalling after flooding the engine with Petrol - 550K 1978
« on: November 26, 2020, 09:13:03 PM »
So last day after changing my handle bar I managed flooding the engine with Petrol  ::) very amateur, I know.

But after that the bike would start and after starting would run very "heavy" as expected, I noticed the smell of petrol in the oil, so decided to replace the oil for a new oil, Valvoline 15w-40  and new spark plugs. The bike is starting okay, but after running a few miles, it starts losing power and stalling.

I don't think it is the carburetor, I have managed to keep it clean and synchronised. The bike was running perfect before.

Any idea what's going on?
Is this a good oil to use on my 1978?

Thank you in advance

Thank you for finding that Julie. I'm glad it is from the kick-start, and not something else.  :o

Cheers

...for fear of being vilified, I nearly haven't posted this...but Im going to anyway!

At this stage Andy, I just want to find a way to enjoy the bike with my wife on the back, even if it requires a door hinge haha  :P Would be very very helpful if could share a photo of it.

Thanks in advance

My 'parts-bin special' has a home-made seat and the hinges are...well...door hinges that I had to hand in the cellar. The retaining pins are six inch nails cut to size and peened over.. But then,  it's not a restoration, it's a cheap and cheerful build from spare parts!! On the US site there are some nice home- made brackets on some builds- I've seen lumps of aluminium machined to size, but doesn't really help for a restoration. So lots of ways to do it to get you on the road and give you time to source an original set..Good luck!

Nice work. It's looking awesome!

Is this the original seat bowl? Did you cut the frame for that?

Cheers!
