CB500/550 / BATTERY TERMINALS
« on: November 02, 2020, 08:30:37 PM »
Could any please shed some light on where it is possible to get the the original type & shape & open ends battery terminals. I can find angled closed end terminals on AES, The terminal I am trying to find are the shaped ones that come off the battery which are sort of shaped to fit around the frame and direct the battery lead off in a nice direction to suit battery and direction of the lead.

CB500/550 / PILOT LIGHTS NOT WORKING
« on: November 02, 2020, 08:41:39 AM »
Sub Wiring loom 3210-593-00 posted 27/10/20

To carry on from last post the wiring loom is now slaved in and I have managed to get most of it to work  ;D, Except for the "Pilot cluster lights" ( The light cluster give Oil Px, High Beam, Neutral, & indicators ) I can not get any of these lights to work.. >:(

I know from the wiring digram that Neutral & Oil px lights go to earth to make the circuit and neutral has to be correctly positioned in "neutral gear" / adjusted on the clutch cable to bring the light on. I have check the clutch loom for continuity and that's ok.
I also can not get the direction indicators on the pilot cluster to work individually for Left & Right to come on with the L/H & R/H indicators they work as hazard lights at the moment .

Any help or guidance would be gratefully received please I know Its hard to do via a forum

CB500/550 / SUB LOOM 3210-593-000 UPDATE ! Pilot cluster wont light !
« on: October 26, 2020, 09:09:18 AM »
I have started to refit, my Honda CB550K3 main wiring loom which I purchased form DS. I have slaved the new loom in NP But unfortunately previous owners have cut and modified all the looms before me for some reason. Including modifying the sub loom, P/N 3210-593-000.
( The sub loom 3210-593-000 is the loom that links the alternator, rectifier, flasher unit & starter relay together which has the white plugs on it that the main loom and alternator plug into)
Has anyone got a old sub loom that not been chopped or modified that they don't want or that I can borrow Or would anyone have a wiring diagram for this please. So I can get Alan to copy it for me please,
Then he will have this to add to his stock list of available looms for a CB550k3 Happy to pay postage cost

CB750 / TROUBLE BLEEDING FRONT BRAKE
« on: September 08, 2020, 12:00:39 PM »
Please could anyone shed any light why it is so difficult to bleed the front brake system on a CB750 K8 use import  :( :(   ?

I  have on Graham and Julies advice brought a S/Steel piston, new master seal kit, new s/steel braided hose which on my model is one piece which is 80cm in length   ALL THE SEALS are genuine Honda seals using Dot 4  fluid put in new crush washers at the master cylinder banjo joint
1)    I have tried bleeding it by the normal std method of opening and closing the lower  bleed nipple
2)   Using a syringe I have back bleed it by pushing the build towards the master cylinder
3)   Using a syringe I have bled it by sucking the fluid through from the master cylinder
4)   Without out the lower bled nipple being open & with constant small movement of the brake lever for 20 minutes.

Comparing the movement of the front brake lever with my CB550K3 My 550 moves back less than half way and then unable to pull it back any further ........ With my 750 I am able to pull back the brake lever back to within 1 finger thickness of the handle bar most times  And if i really pull the brake lever hard I can get it back to the handle bar
which i am not happy with ( Not got the confidence in it stopping me )

Any help or guidance why I am having so much trouble with this simple task

CB500/550 / SPEEDO & REV COUNTER BEZELS
« on: August 01, 2020, 08:57:30 PM »
I discovered today when I went to fit some new instrument anti vibration rubbers that both my instrument bezels are not in the best of condition fact they look as if they are just RTV together  :( :( and they both appear to be missing the chrome / alloy band

Q1)     Am I right in saying that a UK MODEL CB550 k3 has green faced clocks
           speedo 120mph & Rev Count 11000 RPM ?
Q2)     1/2 way down the bezel there is a chrome / alloy band, Is this folded over band what
keeps the two half of the bezel together ?
Q3)     Is there a rubber seal that goes in between the 2 half's of the bezels

I like to try and source 2 x bezels  & 2x chrome bands new or 2nd hand Any advice or guidance please would be great to be able to try and sort this little problem out

Regards

Nigel

CB500/550 / CB550K3 Air scoop & Lower handle bar clutch casting
« on: July 04, 2020, 09:44:20 AM »
I have purchased a Honda CB 550 k3 which unfortunately has had more than its fair share of owner's in its life time & over the years has turned into a bit of a mongrel. Which hopefully can be sorted by some TLC :)

I am trying to source a tool tray / air scope for my CB550k3 would any one be able to point me in the right direction to be able to source one please, Are there any other's which will fit from other models of the same period?

I am also looking for a L/H Handel Bar Lower Clutch Casting with the letters PA stamped into it as I have discovered that mine has a stripped thread  :( which maybe one of the main causes on why I can't get a nice clutch adjustment

Any help with these items would be most appreciated sorry there are no pictures couldn't get them to attach  >:(

CB500/550 / IGNITION COIL FITTING
« on: June 17, 2020, 09:06:29 AM »
Good Morning all

Can anyone help me please I brought a Honda CB550K3 a while ago and it not running very smoothly when out on the road so i changed the plugs and done the timing and balanced the carbs (Well attempted too  ;D ) I am just wondering if I got the ignition leads back in the right order ?  I have had a look in the manuals and I can't find a write up or picture to tell me which coil outlet feeds which cylinder  I know L/H side coil feeds L/H side cylinders & R/H side coils feed R/H cylinders So which ignition leads go to which cylinder from the coils, Any guidance on this I would be most grateful

Also for further reference which NGK plugs are best for mid range use

Many thanks

Site Feedback / FAQ / How to... / CB750k7 US import poor front brake
« on: April 13, 2020, 09:01:41 AM »
Good Morning All

I have stripped my front brake calliper down as the brake lever had no resistance, The fluid was nice and clean when it came out when I disassembled and the front hose looks fairly new which makes me think someone has tried to bleed the brakes before .
I replaced the Pads, calliper seal, new white nylon small washer & new fluid, I have checked the master cylinder assembly by putting a blank on the brake line and squeezing the brake handle which comes up hard  :) .

I cleaned and lubed all the parts ready for assembly, Reassembled and bled the brakes used the standard method of a bleed tube & still very spongey so tried it by drawing the fluid through using a syringe and they are still spongey :(

My question is the piston fitted to mine is the hollow version on one end I assume that the chrome machined end fits into the calliper with the nylon washer and the hollow end faces outwards towards the brake pad  Should there be a slightly metal domed part that goes over the hollow end of the piston that then touches the pad as the CMS web site IPC appears shows this part. ( no good IPC pictures in Hayes Manual :( )

I am sure this question has been asked many times before sorry to repeat it again any help would be gratefully appreciated
