I got the correct plugs and caps from here:

There are two different pattern plug-caps used, 2 90° and two at about 45°

Excellent points folks and well made.

My machine was put through an MoT after the restoration back in February just as a nuts-n-bolts check, but as I have yet to clock 1,000 miles in 10 months (I'm still running it in :-), I may well leave it until 2022 before another one.

Hi Folks, just a quick straw-poll.

How many of you put their classic bikes through an MoT even if they are MoT Exempt?

Just curious :-)

I've finished my '77 reg 400F in the current Honda Milano Red which is a very close match to the original Light Ruby Red.

I had the same confusion over was it it an F or F2 as it was first registered on 30th March 1977, but the frame/engine numbers are within the 400F UK range. I guess it was loitering in a showroom for a while.

Thanks Bryan,  I've had a look but CMSNL have them as unavailable. I had a search by the part number and no luck so far - just two other sources and both have it as discontinued.

One thing, looking at the picture on CMSNL, it shows a double leaf construction:

I only have the 'inner' part so I guess that's why it's so weak.

It's a UK 1977 model by the way, but it seems to be a standard part across all markets.

OK, I know that they are supposed to fold up to use the kick-starter, but mine flops about like a todger in a top hat!
The slightest snag on trouser or boot and it folds up only to be discovered when I try to rest my foot on it - oh what fun.
It has the circular flat spring installed but this only seems to lightly hold it up and has no tension to hold it down.
I presume it's knackered as I can re-shape it with finger pressure. Does anybody know if replacement springs are available?

Cheers for any advice.

All done!
Carbs off and cleaned up in a sonic bath courtesy of my neighbour Steve.

I think I may of found the issue with the sticking floats - one float pivot pin had the end sheared off and another was bent as a dog's back leg!

Bought a set of the brass rods off of Amazon and cut new pins for all 4 carbs, float levels checked and matched and back on the bike this afternoon and runs like a dream with no overflow  ;D

Does anyone know if you can buy replacement pivot pins?

One of mine has been mangled and is shorter than the others.
