Title: Regulator/rectifiers Wireing need HELP
Post by: THUNDERDOWNUNDER on May 23, 2020, 08:29:35 AM
Bought The CB400/4 with reg/rect off Honda integra 1985 it says . Birdsnest of wiring so put new harness on and new reg/rect  to suit . Upon  fitting blows a fuse and said reg/rect is letting current both ways on one of the diodes . The Old reg/rect which is testing ok and came with bike has an extra wire than the DS one I bought . Would any one know if I can use it on the new loom and which wires go we’re ?thanks if you can help .

Plug photo is colours to rectifier, yellows are AC to rectifier, red is DC out to battery via starter terminal and green will be earth?
The standard regulator has white output to generator, black switched feed and green earth, it is a guess that the two red/whites  on the unit are positives to battery.
Above from memory, so if anyone wants to add to, carry on.

From another bike of that era which I've diagram for:- 3 yellow to stator coils (as said above) the grouping 3, green to earth red/white to main supply fuse from battery + , black from switched supply + . That would appear to be for those grouped as 3 on lhs of your picture.

The remaining green plus red white group of two to alternator switching circuit / field coil ( it's this green that may be surplus on older bikes if they earth directly rather that via a loom connect)

It's obviously informed guesswork. But that's what it looks like.

Edit for accuracy. :)
