Fading at low speeds sounds like a fuel issue.

Have you checked the vac gauge adapter screws are secure and fitted with an alloy washer?

Have you checked the inlet manifold rubbers for cracks. I suspect an air leak somewhere, enough for it to overwhelm the mixture at low speeds and why high throttle openings still work, as it would on choke.

Also check the manifold clamps, possible a screw has failed allowing the clamp to become loose.

Try the carb cleaner trick, start the bike and spray carb cleaner around the inlet side and see if the revs increase, if they do, you have a leak.

I ended up cutting my tyres off, even with 20" tyre levers they refused to flex over the rim and the rim started getting damaged even when using rim protectors.

I don't think anyone has ever accused the brakes on a SOHC as being too powerful.

I could lock the front wheel on my 500 with twin discs but then again I could also lock it with a single disc, depended on the road surface. Personally I found the twin disc setup looked more balanced, like twin exhausts does, it performed better and gave more confidence, you do however need to either slot or drill the discs as the smooth surface didn't help with water dispersion for instance.

I would suggest having a word with Peter Horton, he's the expert on speedos etc. Ask if if it's possible for you to send both the KPH and MPH speedos with the idea of making one good MPH out of both. I suspect Peter would just swap over the threaded part from the KPH speedo onto the broke MPH speedo and that's all you'll require, a quick service of the innards as well, maybe a refresh of the facia if needed and you'll have a brand new looking speedo good for some years.

I've been using SBS ceramic pads on my 1300 for some years now. They are excellent, don't need much if any warming up, produce far less dust than organics or sintered and are kinder to the discs than sintered.

501HF for the CB500.

Just 5 left. I kept 3 for my own use but I only really need 1 so if push comes to shove I can sell 7.

I have sourced some NOS thumb screws and springs, Roo kindly let me have them sent to him whilst he's in the States as the postage was exorbitant for such a small part, about £20 IIRC, how they justify that I have no idea.

I have 6 springs and 2 thumb screws available, I'll need to work out a price when the final bill is tallied but they won't be available until November when Roo comes back.

Managed to source 2 more thumb screws, so now have 4 available.
