It'll keep my arm pits cool with the wind whistling down the arms of my leathers.

It's not length etc that's wrong with them, it's the quality of the product. Float needles for instance can have the < part off centre and it will never stop petrol that way. Drillings are not the exact size etc.

Yes Dave, the lifter arms are the same as the 500/550 ones, it's the choke mechanism ones I can't make at present, I need to order some odd size cutters to be able to do those. Tried 10mm and 6mm and the bar just cuts them to bits when inserted, tried 8mm and 6mm and the wall is too thin for any strength and again the bar wrecks them. 6mm is too small for the inside, the bar is 6.8mm so the threads on the end of the choke bars just pull it to pieces going through. I have a 6.5mm cutter on order which may work.

Send me a PM Dave with your address and I'll advise on PayPal address, unless of course you've bought from me before, in which case you'll know it.

Yeah it's a bit of a sit up and beg riding position.

The switch wiring on a 500 is supposed to run through the bars and be none visible Ted. Have the bars got the slots on the underside to accommodate this?

Depends how deep the pits are Ted. Also how thick the metal is. Get the chrome removed first and inspect and make a judgement then.

Moving the splines may not be the answer though Ted. Honda used punch marks so as to make it easy to not only get the mechanism right but also to highlight when it had a problem.

If the punch marks line up, not only on the brake pedal and brake spindle but also on the brake drum arm and it’s spindle and things still don’t feel right it shows that somewhere there’s a problem. It could be worn brake shoes or the pivot pin has excessive play or one of the levers is bent etc so just moving the splines may in fact cover up the fault.

This is the small metal ramp that fits inside the bottom half of the right hand switchgear on the CB350, CB360, CB500, CB750 and CL360.

It can also be fitted to both the CB400F, CB550F and CB550K if you want to fit one.

This feature was removed from models after the CB500, it was fitted to enable a fast idle for checking advance/retard unit operation for example. In essence it locks the throttle where you want it, this is very handy on motorways for instance when the pressure of holding the throttle open gets a little wearing. Under the switchgear is a large chrome thumb screw fitted with a chrome spring. When this is screwed in it pushes this small ramp up against the throttle pipe, the more you screw the thumb screw in the stiffer the throttle becomes. So on a motorway you just wind in the screw until the throttle stays open by itself. Most of these ramps get lost when you open the switchgear to change bars or a cable for instance. They tend to drop out and you don't notice, fit these with plenty of grease and they stand a better chance of staying in. If you have a CB400F or a CB550F/K you can still fit one by just drilling and tapping the small boss which is still fitted but never used. You need a 5mm tap. Fit the ramp, the thumb screw and spring and you now have this handy feature.

If you have the thumb screw and spring fitted and winding it in does nothing then the ramp is missing. It's just a small piece of metal bend into a special shape. It is quite expensive for what it is, common price is around $7 but it's the postage that kills buying it from the states, I found quite a few last year and bought the lot so as to split the cost to acceptable levels.

Cost is £7 inc P&P. If you buy with a set of clutch shims or felt washers I'll do them for £5.

I have 10 only. Once they're gone, they're gone as the saying goes.

Check the rear brake pedal punch marks align with the brake spindle Ted, if they do try adjusting the height screw on the frame, you can raise or lower the pedal with it.

Think someone drilled the holes to maybe fit some indicators as the stems are not easy to find.

I've altered my profile settings today to receive an email if a reply is posted on a thread I'm involved with but still not getting any emails, just got a PM and no email, is there anything on the settings page I should be ticking?

Shims are now done, all bagged up and ready to be sent.

If I do any more I'm bunging them on Ebay at £20 a set. The effort required doesn't justify the amount I make on these.

PM me for PayPal address and include your postal address if you want some. Erny, I'd need to see how much extra it would be to send to the EU, hope that's ok. Shouldn't be too much more I reckon.
