Title: cb360.... well it is a sohc
Post by: nairb on November 12, 2020, 06:02:56 AM
So I have gone and bought a cb360.  A 1974 with a twin leading shoe front brake. Mostly original as well.  As with any bike that is 46 years old its not always easy to tell the satin black paintwork from the gloss.   The frame is not that bad at all.  Its the great thing about an import.  Usually they are not too rusty.

Anyway, some parts of the frame are a bit dull/scruffy so I want to freshen them up.....

Does anybody know if the front foot pegs are satin black along with the steering stem.  I think the rest of the frame parts are gloss black.  Or at least they were when it left the factory.
I will get the battery box and tool box powder coated since they are the scruffy.  The frame I will keep original.

I think the top yoke was satin black but the footpegs and bottom yoke were painted the same as the frame.
Any pictures of your bike to share? The Shop and Parts manuals are in my Dropbox links if you don't have these already.

I had a ' 74 350 K4 with the 325cc motor.  Is your bike an import?   I didn't think the  360 models came along until 1975 designated G5 and they had a disc front anchor or am I getting my wires crossed?  UPDATE   I've just seen a '74 360 advertised on fleabay with a drum front brake, so pardon my ignorance.  You learn something new every day!

I just polished up a lovely condition front hub off a CB360  .. stamped 369 inside ...only difference I can see from K model is a tiny arrow cast in, for the brake wear indicator.

Late K models  also had disc brake but not UK models .. CB350G (not G5) and CB350K5 and Cb350B1 in Germany etc

Right the top yoke is satin finish.  Some of the smaller parts were very dull and scruffy and not obvious that they were supposed to be gloss black.  The frame was in fairly good nick.
Yes its an USA Import.  The 1974 model came with both drum & disk brake as I understand.  Its called a CB360K0 in the states and appeared here as the G5 with only a disk brake.

I doubt there are many uk models left that are not completely rusty & rotten.

It did start & run.  It had stood for 20 + years so there will need all the consumables replaced.
Here is a pic as arrived

Lovely front brake.

Probably better than early discs.especially if you get caught out in the rain
