Title: CB160 / Bike Courier
Post by: AshimotoK0 on September 19, 2023, 08:20:01 AM
My mate Jim from Beverley just won this CB160  (had one myself in '75  ..got the T shirt .. deffo won't be getting another one   ;D )

Wonder if Laverda Dave was bidding too?  ;D

The cheapest quote he has had for a courier from Portsmouth to Beverley (E.Yorks) is £240 .. is that the going rate?

No, I didn't bid Ash, I didn't even know it was for sale, never mind :(. The one on Pugh's site looks a bit rough especially with the tin worm in the side panel, how did that happen, they are made from pretty thick steel? I can't get another bike, I'm trying to make room in the garage and had to sell my lovely CB250rsa two weeks ago after 22 years of ownership and a restoration :'(. I still need to really get rid of one more bike, the dealer who bought the 250 had his eye on the 350 Morini Sport (no, not for sale) my 100% genuine 400/4 (no, not for sale). Once I finish the Triton that is becoming an even bigger pia thanks to a porous cylinder head and get it off the bike lift I can then get the 'Rat 400/4' bike on the lift and stripped down to give me some room. Of course the answer is I need to move to a smaller house with a bigger garage ;D

That price for transport isabout right. He could try Chas Mortimer who I have used a couple of times and they are very good. If he isn't in a hurry to get it Chas will collect it when he is the area and store it until he is coming up north with another delivery. Works out a lot cheaper.
I could of said that is very expensive and rather then incur all the transportation cost he could sell the bike to me  ;D

Chas was still operating last week 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Edit.... I didn't use him last week but an acquaintance said they had used his company.

Yep, that's him. If his company has gone bust that would be a great shame, they are really good, have excellent communication and will do their best to keep the transportation cost down.

240 seems ok to me for that distance. Although tbf, anyone who visits Beverley should have to pay for the privilege. Go Nellies!
