Title: Warranty engine
Post by: Trigger on November 06, 2019, 08:15:43 AM
There was only two ways that I know to get a full engine like this, >>> www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1976-Honda-CB550-F2-Crate-Motor-W-0-Miles/323929036278

1) It was a warranty claim unit that came from Honda because the original engine fitted was faulty and this could be the faulty unit put back in the crate and Honda never asked for it back.

2) It is a warranty claim engine that came from Honda to replace a faulty unit that was never fitted.

A big gamble and a lot of $$$

My rep told me they just did not do complete engines and my old boss had one of the early 750 that had bad oil hoses , blew the crank and had to go to a dealer in Worcester to have new cases, crank, rods and all associated bits. Took them over a month just to get the bits sorted.

Honda were very slow on parts. Had at least 2 CX engines arrive complete and a few fireblade units come in crates.

I had a piece of metal swarf stuck in my eye and A and E prised it out with a needle.
I've never sat so still in all my life!

There is an article in this months Practical Sportsbike about Tony Rutter and his massive crash in Montjuic in 1985........his eyes were so badly damaged that they had to pop his eyeballs out to repair the nerves behind them !

He must have looked a bit like me after a few scoops too many....when my peepers point in different directions  !

Just saying............

Yes, if you have serious traumatic injury to the bone eye orbits and the muscles holding the eye in the orbit the eyes can be pulled forward on the optic nerve. Not the usual procedure for a splinter though. Love how these threads go off pisté. From a crated engine to eyeball extraction, I bet not many other forums have such diverse conversations 😊😊😊😊

That engine does appear expensive, might be worth keeping an eye out for something cheaper.....
