Title: 500 Four Steering Lock Key Question
Post by: paulbaker1954 on January 25, 2016, 04:21:36 PM
My project bike has a key that fits ignition and seat lock. Should it be the same key for the steering lock or was this always a different key?

I am hoping it's the same key and that  my steering lock is just a bit rusted/gummed with crud  (I didn't want to try and force anything in case I break the only key I have !!)

Thanks all

Very good question ;D It should be the same key and the key number can be found on the face of the barrel. These are a pig of a steering lock so, may have been changed.

On both, the '72 and the '76 500/4's I found one key for ignition and seat, and a different, smaller key for the steering lock.

For the refurb I now ordered a complete lock-set, with one key fitting all 3 barrels.

The number should be visible on all the lock faces so you should be able to check
