Welcome!
We don't have gun threads or politics threads on here - mainly because we're (mostly) Brits and don't have guns (or much in the way of politics...)
What else do you talk about in Texas?
20 years ago I worked for Northern Telecom and used to visit thier offices in Richardson regularly. One night, my opposit number took us all out to the "Million Dollar Saloon". Does that sort of thing still exist? (To be honest it was pretty tame compared to what our Eastern European customers used to provide...)

Nudie bars? Sure, we still have them. They are pretty tame, though. They keep making laws to make them more tame, but I don't really frequent those places.
We certainly talk guns and politics, but we talk about all sorts of stuff.
Here in Fort Worth (not far from Richardson), the Dallas Cowboys are often a topic of conversation. Movies, TV (we have some Doctor Who fans around the office, me included), whatever. I just added those to the sig line, because those are the most common questions I get from people outside of the US.
My brother just flew out of London this morning. He was there for the Cowboys game. He caught a Man C match while he was there, hit Stonehenge, got to see the Poppies at the Tower and did a few days in Paris. I am jealous.
