NGK D7EA and 10/40w mineral oil.

I run the D7EAs and I use 15/40 Rotella T, but this could get into one of the ugly oil threads...  Do you guys get those over on this board?

Oh, and I run 20/50 during the hot part of the summer.  Texas gets a little warm.  Probably not something you have to deal with, though.

If you have a shop that specializes in vintage VWs, they carry a cloth wrapped fuel line that is great for these bikes.  It acts like Chinese finger-cuffs, so clamps are usually not needed.

You should be using the copper crush gaskets and the stock collars, at least that's what I did with a motad on my 550.

Both my kids are NFL fans.

They watch it on BT Sport (TV) and both went to the Wembley games with their partners.

When my colleague from Richardson was here (don't forget that this si the early 90s I'm talking about), I took him to Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and the Tower of London. He was blown away!

My other favourite anecdote from the time was a visit to our operations team in Atlanta. They thought we were Australian and talking to a group of the girls who worked in Inside Sales (basically what we'd call Order management nowadays), we discovered that 90%-odd of them didn't have passports, had never been outside of Georgia and assumed that Australia and UK were in more-or-less the same place...

Well, you WERE in Atlanta.  Not known as a bastion of intelligence.
Really, it is more difficult for us to travel outside of the US.  You guys can jump on a train and be in Paris in a few hours.  It takes me more than 3 hours to get to Austin (still in Texas) and it takes more than 8 to get to El Paso (also still in Texas). that is driving at 75mph or more.
I have been out of the country a few times (had a layover in Ireland once on the way back from Iraq), but it is more expensive for us to visit anywhere (aside from Canada and Mexico) because we have to travel overseas.
We also tend to have a lot less vacation time available.   :(

What in the hell is that thing?  Is that a worm?  You must have very different worms on your side of the pond.

Welcome!

We don't have gun threads or politics threads on here - mainly because we're (mostly) Brits and don't have guns (or much in the way of politics...)

What else do you talk about in Texas?

20 years ago I worked for Northern Telecom and used to visit thier offices in Richardson regularly. One night, my opposit number took us all out to the "Million Dollar Saloon". Does that sort of thing still exist? (To be honest it was pretty tame compared to what our Eastern European customers used to provide...)

Steve

Nudie bars?  Sure, we still have them.  They are pretty tame, though.  They keep making laws to make them more tame, but I don't really frequent those places.

We certainly talk guns and politics, but we talk about all sorts of stuff.
Here in Fort Worth (not far from Richardson), the Dallas Cowboys are often a topic of conversation.  Movies, TV (we have some Doctor Who fans around the office, me included), whatever.  I just added those to the sig line, because those are the most common questions I get from people outside of the US.

My brother just flew out of London this morning.  He was there for the Cowboys game.  He caught a Man C match while he was there, hit Stonehenge, got to see the Poppies at the Tower and did a few days in Paris.  I am jealous.

Not this week.  Been bouncing off the freezing mark.  I hate to ride when it is that cold (I have done it, used to have a bike as my only mode of transport).  But, usually we have decent weather for riding 8-9 months out of the year... or more.

So, any Newcastle fans?  I don't follow them closely, but if you got to pick a team, that's mine.  Yes, I know they suck, but I still like 'em.

I have a CB550 that I ride around a lot.

Not a great pic, but somewhat recent:

I just thought I would join here to see what the Brit SOHC population is doing.  Feel free to ask me questions about Texas or America in general, if you have any.
