Was using Michelin Pilot Roads for donkeys years. The 2's were good, did not like the 3's and went back to 2s. 4s and 5s just got better again.
Fronts I would change before they were worn out, as the wear tended to be on the transition area from upright to lean, which would bring a little twitch. Rears were sound. They do a Road Classic too, which I have on my daily runabout. That's been spot on in all the weathers we have had over the last year.
Michelin were at the forfront of using multi compound tyres on their road products with harder centre sections and softer rubber on the outer tread for improved grip. The adverts in the tyre place looked very scientific...but the product felt good. So I stuck with them.

those tankards are stunning .... and I see no unsightly gaps or misaligned blocks.
Love seeing traditional skills practiced to a high degree. Just a shame it's such a rarity.

Actually....you could give them away I got given one by a neighbour who couldn't get it to run and wanted shot. Slow, heavy, dull .... but...at the time, I needed wheels, and this had 2 of them! Had a CB125T2 when I was a lad, and that was better. But for a bit of cheap classic fun, why not.

I don;t think steel covers would work ...but I have used neoprene fork gaiters, available in all sorts of colours that look similar to that. Flat cylindrical gaiters with no ridges.
worked well.

LOL ....removing the 10mm socket!
Thats really considerate. Saves the kid the effort of losing it.
I own several spare 10mm sockets, just so I can actually find one when I need it. Short, long reach, 1/4"...3/8"...1/2" .... and 3 10mm spanners. I am thinking of putting one on the wall in one of those 'in case of emergency...break glass' boxes, or getting one on a lanyard, so I can hang it rouns my neck.

I don't watch Henry Cole on TV because I can't stand his infernal wittering and find his manner very annoying. Never met the bloke..so it might be his idea of a TV personality... but whatever, I can't watch him.
As far as electric bikes go.... I would consider one as a commuter.
Real biker? Ride to work every day in all weathers, and have done since I was old enough to ride on the road. Lost a few days this week due to packed ice and snow on the roads...and had to borrow the eldest son's pedal assist bicycle so I could push it to roads that had actually been salted. They only did bus routes here...But for a short range commute, the simplicity and ease of maintenance do appeal.
Would I sell my daily or my F2 for one....God no.

I actually like the look of that.
All too often the battery box looks out of place, but here they managed to get it to look like an oversized period tool box.
Hub motor, with the electrics in the side panels and the petrol tank is fairly standard, and the performance is fine for a commuter or town riding. Shame aboutht erange though. I guess they went small on the battery box to get the look, and the range is the end result.

These things rot from the inside out, so by the time the damage becomes apparant....it's got pretty bad.
Welding up that would only sort the outer skin, but inside it will still be a mess.
By the time you have someone cut them apart, fix any issues, weld back in good metal and re-plate the result, it would be cheaper to replace. I've been looking for an exhaust system for my F2 project that loos how I want, and I have seen so many rotten exhausts being sold for £100's when they should really have been scrapped.

That sounded really sweet too. Someone got a bargain there. Ride it...and gradually tidy up the rough edges as you go.

The one that came on my F2 was battered ...but I had a spare.
It came into my posession many years ago on a Z650 in place of the one that should have been there. I got the right one for that old Kawasaki and kept the Honda cover..... which I used as an ashtray for many years.
Now, I'm older and wiser. Don't smoke....and have had to do a lot of cleaning on that old points cover. But only on the inside!
