Title: CB550 Exhaust
Post by: Dave M on September 24, 2007, 09:42:35 AM
Are there any major differences between the engine and frame on a K3 and an F2?

For example, would an aftermarket 4 into 1 system that is fitted to a K3 fit an F2?

Hi Dave, although there are no major differences in the engine and frame from the K3 to the F2 it would depend on the exhaust being fitted, for example if it was a Marshall exhaust the part number is the same for K3 ans F2 so it would fit (one assumes),where as if it is a Motad they are slightly different.I have had both K3 and F2's over the years and have swapped exhausts between the two,but like i say it might depend on who the manufactures the system.I personally have never had any problems but i might just have been lucky...lol hope that helps mate

Thanks Perry.

The one I'm looking at is a Marshall and it's on a K3 however the "model No" says 500/550F so I think it will.

Just thought I'd check though.

Ah the voice of democracy and reason, thats assuming that we know what the others on the site are doing...lol ;D and further assuming that one of us actually is the highest bidder. But i'm quite happy to let another member take the spoils on this one :'(

Looks different to mine. I think mine's very old.

Sounds good though!

You selling that one Steve? Will it fit a 550?

Well done,as you can see i was as good as my word and did'nt even bid...lol mind you that could have something to do with the fact that i managed to get hold of two N.O.S systems one for a K and the other is a F from holland, so a nice weekend  out and two new exhausts, can't be bad...lol still looking for the back wheel for you but my garages are so full of old crap it could be anywhere, but i will let you know mate

I'm happy with the price and would have paid a bit more.

Looking forward to giving a good polish and then fitting it.

Don't worry too much about the wheel Perry as I might get mine rebuilt with a new rim and spokes. There's a guy not too far away who'll do it for me.

Well ive got to have a bloody good clear out anyway,i collected so much stuff over the years (not just SOHC HONDA) my garages resemble breakers yards rather garages and a lot of the stuff was NOS that i picked up from jumbles, you should have a go at doing the wheel yourself mate,it does take a little time to get the wheel trued up but it's allways worth the experience if nothing else, the respoking is the easy bit...lol

Well, the auction finished at 13.47hrs yesterday and the system arrived at lunchtime today, just before the postal strike started.

Fantastic service, methinks!

Not sure but it was extremely well packaged and arrive dquickly.

I've kept the packaging to send off my Dunstall when (if?) I sell it so I'll let you know what it costs.

I never realised you needed at least 4 hands to fit a new exhaust!

Got it all connected up and hand tight so I can figure out how to make a bracket for the silencer.

Couldn't resist starting the engine to have a listen though! Sounds rather good if you ignore the blow from the head where the gaskets are missing.

Should sound nice on the road.

Those Deeptones are real hooligan exhausts.

... coz they make you ride like one!

Your fuel consumption will rocket as you ride everywhere at 5000rpm!

Still no sign of my exhaust gaskets.

Many thanks to the sterling efforts of the great British Royal Mail service!

Thanks guys!

We're nearly there.

The wheel's fitted and the exhaust just needs it's gaskets fitting and everything tightening up.

Looking better by the day!

DaveM

Let me know how much you would want if you decided to sell the Dunstall because it might come in useful for me.
