I picked up what I believe is the UK Plate Bracket for the CB750. There aren't any holes in the bracket to mount a plate. How would the plate originally been mounted to this bracket? Is as simple as drill a few holes in it or are they special clips?

Yes, that is a 750. Mainly used on the K2 but, is NOT for the UK K6 and you can attach the plate with double sided sticky pads or drill holes ;)
-
Isnt the one with the rib in the middle or top a 500?
-
I think this is the UK/Euro 750 one - well, it's looks the same as the one fitted to my old UK K1?
-
Yes, no rib on the top and not a complete square for the plate.
Makes me more sure the original one is 500.
Scot did you pay a lot for it and would you want to sell it on?

I think this one is from CB500/550.
I recently obtained the same, from CB550F european version (proven). It fits smaller tail light, I want to replace my big light with bracket on CB550K1 (us version). But before sent for chroming. I had there 3 drilled holes for license plate that will be welded. I'll find another way to fit licence plate w/o drilling.

Erny, the one in your picture is 550 UK but, it was also used on the 500 from the middle of 1974. Maybe down to who was supplying Honda.
Bryan, not sure what you mean by rib. Please explain ? The part number for the 500 and 750K2 were the same P/N 84701323600B

The CB250k type has a rib pressed into the top face.

Got the rib bit now. 3 void ;)

The one I have definitely has a rib on the top. I didn't pay much for it. I may still try to use it with some modification. These pictures show the the rib. I'm attempting to use the smaller oval taillight. Any other thoughts on what this bracket is?

Not 100% but I think it's 84701-292-600B . Originally fitted to CB450K1 (hence 292 part no. ) then CB250/350K. The UK versions of the CB450K1 and the CB250K0 and CB250K2 all had the oval tail-lamp.
-
Will the oval light fit? I still think 500 four
-
The mounting plate is 6 x 6 inch and the tail light mounting holes are 95mm center to center on the CB750K2 and CB500 four

Thanks Trigger. My bracket has the same measurements as the bracket in Trigger's post. It looks the same with the square plate mount and the rib. Is this a CB750 bracket? I ordered a repro oval taillight but it won't be here for a few weeks.
Thanks

You are correct Bryan but my 750K0 has the rib & oval lamp but is a ---300-- P/N and the 500 also has rib but ---323 part no. ..500 had square lamp though as does Triggers.
I will measure my 750K0 one in the lamp area later ... it has the oval lamp and is original to the bike.
This is the ---323--- 500 part.
UPDATE : Just measured oval lamp between centres and it is 95mm like Triggers square one ...so you should be OK :) :).

I answered your question in a previous post :o The bracket you have is P/N 84701 323 600B and is for the UK CB750 K2 from 1972 to 1975 and was from the UK CB500 Four 1971 to 1974 . Yes, a oval light should fit ;)

I just wanted to update this thread. I'm in the US and converting a Dunstall Honda back to stock configuration. I have some choices to make about fenders and tail light. I always liked the look of the UK tail light and black bracket. I happened to come across one cheaply. I took a chance that the US K2-K6 rear fender would have the same bolt spacing as the UK bracket. It does. This is an original K2 fender with the UK bracket bolted on.

I'm still waiting for the oval tail light to get here but it should bolt up no problem.
