Anorak's Corner / Exhaust Clamp Bolt - Original Finish?
« on: March 01, 2020, 11:11:23 AM »
Got the CB750 K1 right side exhausts off at the moment and employing a fair bit of elbow grease on the exhausts and clamps (clamps before and after below).

I want to reuse the original clamp bolts, but I don’t think any amount of cleaning will bring the finish back and OEM bolts (with the little dot and unthreaded shoulder) are not available - can someone please advise whether the original finish was chrome or BZP?

Thanks, Andrew

Humour / Priorities in life
« on: February 27, 2020, 09:16:45 AM »
Husband:
My wife is missing.
She went to rescue people from the flood yesterday and has not come home...

Sergeant at Police Station:
What is her height?

Husband:
I'm not sure. A little over five-feet tall?

Sergeant:
Weight?

Husband:
Don't know. Not slim, not really fat.

Sergeant:
Color of eyes?

Husband:
Sort of brown I think. Never really noticed.

Sergeant:
Color of hair?

Husband:
Changes a couple times a year.
Maybe dark brown now.
I can’t remember.

Sergeant:
What was she wearing?

Husband:
Could have been pants, or maybe a skirt or shorts. I don't know exactly.

Sergeant:
What kind of car did she go in?

Husband:
She actually went on my dirt bike...

Sergeant:
What kind of bike was it?

Husband: (sobbing)

Tricks & Tips / How to remove tire info decal?
« on: February 21, 2020, 04:38:43 PM »
Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the original Tire Information decal from the rear mudguard as I may want to get a couple of very small dings repaired and then rechromed? - the jury is out at the moment.

PS - this photo was taken before it was cleaned and polished up.

Thanks
Andrew

Misc / Open / Sun out, couldn't resist a pic of my old girls
« on: February 06, 2020, 04:21:46 PM »
Sun was out today, so rolled the old girls out of the garage for a polish, a photo and breath of fresh air, even though the K1 wasn't fully dressed for the occasion......

Cheers, Andrew

CB750 / K1 Update - forks on and fitted up!
« on: January 24, 2020, 02:36:44 PM »
Well, it may be taking more time than I want but over the last few weeks the forks have been off and on more times than a tarts draws! However, I have now finally fitted the headlight brackets, forks on and the headlight. Equally as frustrating (for me) as fitting the headlight brackets (new paint anxiety!) was working out how the chrome rings held the gaiters on place on the brackets (even more new paint anxiety!), this took me ages to figure out but in the end was quite simple with the help of my wife's Nicky Clarke hair dryer; even that was ruby red!! 8)

I'm pleased with the results so far and my K1 is now starting to look like a bike again. Thanks for all the advice which helped me get this far.

CB750 / K1 headlight bowel wiring - advice please
« on: January 22, 2020, 04:16:35 PM »
I’ve fitted the K1’s headlight brackets and trial fitted the headlight bowel feeding the wiring through to ensure the wires aren’t too tight moving from lock to lock.

From the K1 wiring diagram I can see the left-hand indicator green wire connects to the same 4-way connector block as the headlight green wire.  The right-hand indicator green wire connects to a 3-way connector block, even though the wiring diagram shows it as a 4-way?

This leaves me with a single green wire that appears to have come out of its connector, from the wiring diagram it comes Edit: from either Ground, the Regular or Alternator, I've just traced it back to the tacho bulbs! :-[ Logic Common sense tells me it can only connect to the 3-way connector. ::)

Grateful for some advice - hopefully the photo makes sense of what I’ve tried to explain.

Thanks
Andrew

Misc / Open / Christmas present from Croydon's lowlife!
« on: December 23, 2019, 10:03:24 AM »
My eldest son is the Ops and Fin Mgr for the Croydon M&S and is currently working ridiculously long and unsocial hours leading up to Christmas. He called us call at 2:30am yesterday (never a good sign) to say that some lowlife scum had tourched his car in the NCP next to his store and several other cars nearby having first removed the number plates for trophies no doubt. The staff at the store were evacuated because of the smoke, so he went to investigate only to find it was his car that had been set alight!

Luckily the police caught the bastards and suspect this is some kind of gang initiation. I'd like 5 minutes alone in a room with them, one at a time!

Cheers, Andrew

CB750 / Getting there - forks off
« on: December 20, 2019, 04:12:07 PM »
Got the forks off this afternoon - some slight rust on the upper fork legs, now rubbed down and treated with Fertan.

Offered up the headlight brackets, bit of a tight fit and got frustrated with it, so will revisit that after Christmas.

CB750 / K1 baffle - binding wire?
« on: December 04, 2019, 12:27:10 PM »
This may well be a numpty question, but I've bought a new K1 baffle from DS and the gauze is just loose round the tube, can someone please advise what gauge binding wire to use or are these just fitted loose?

Thanks,
Andrew

Anorak's Corner / CB750 K1 Sales Brochure for 11/70 build date?
« on: November 30, 2019, 07:57:57 PM »
I would like an age appropriate sales brochure for my US spec 11/70 CB750 K1, but the only ones I can find are coded 7206 (as below) which I thought was a publication date i.e. 72 June, but this after the build date of my K1 and the introduction of the K2.

Grateful for some advice as to whether 7206 is a code or date?

Thanks,
Andrew

CB750 / CB750 K1 Tool Kit?
« on: October 29, 2019, 12:33:29 PM »
I would like to build up an original tool kit for my K1. Time consuming, but I managed do this for my 76 Z900 which is almost complete.

The DS version available is neither original or complete. Grateful, if someone could please post some photos of an original K1 tool kit (did the K0 and K2 differ?) with identifying marks, or better still have a complete/part-complete original tool kit for sale.

Thanks,
Andrew
