CB750 / Chrome Clock base cover - plate screws?
« on: October 27, 2019, 11:55:06 AM »
The part number for the little M3x8 pan screws that hold on the chrome clock base covers is 93500-03005-08 but doesn't show up on a search on the DS website or CMSNL and Yamiya.

Andy Cepok shows them at £1.26 each plus £6+ postage, albeit with a different part number:  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CB-750-Four-K0-K1-K2-Screw-Pan-Chrome-Gauge-Covers-New-Orig/293254900211?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

But from my previous experience of dealing with Cepok which was not good I'm reluctant to deal with them - grateful if someone could  please point me to a supplier than can supply them?

Thanks,
Andrew

Tricks & Tips / I wondered what the dot was on a japanese screwhead......
« on: October 25, 2019, 06:00:08 PM »
Its news to me, but may not be for many of you - apparently it identifies a JIS (Japanese Industry Standard) screwhead and needs a JIS screwdriver, not Phillips head.....here's why:

Recommended Sources for Parts and Services / NOS Honda precut keys
« on: October 03, 2019, 09:27:35 PM »
My 750 K1 came with one set of keys, so have been looking for a second set as I'm useless with these things! I didn't particularly want a new Timpson copy set so managed to find a set of NOS Honda precut (T77xx) in the US - they arrived today and are exactly as described - new and unmarked.

If anyone else is looking for NOS keys I bought them for this seller - just type in your key number:  https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/infinitemoto/m.html?item=352752202630&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

CB750 / K1 update - tank, seat & panels trial fit
« on: September 21, 2019, 04:57:00 PM »
Well, as the new seat arrive yesterday I thought I would take the opportunity to trial fit it, the tank and side panels and take a few photos in the sunshine to get an idea of how its all coming on - decided to refit the original lower tank mouldings even though there are a few cracks, but who of us hasn't got a few cracks here and there as we approach 50, 60 or higher.....?  :) Will be tapping out the petcock retaining screw threads next week when my metric tap set arrives - nearly all my tools are imperial.....  ::)

A 'few' photos below, I'm really pleased with how it's all coming along and it's been great therapy for me - hopefully by the end of November the headlight and brackets will be fitted, carbs balanced and new tyres fitted, then I can keep polishing it until I get my licence back in July next year.

CB750 / New Cepok OE K1 seat damaged in transit!
« on: September 20, 2019, 10:51:44 PM »
My new OE K1 seat arrived today via DHL from Andy Cepok (via his eBay store), it was in a retaped Honda box and pretty poorly packed inside and as a result the seat catch was forced through the bottom of the box and the safety catch hook was bent at 90 Deg.   I've emailed Cepok and asked for a replacement catch/hook, but I think I know what the answer (if any) will be. but we'll see?

This is my first purchase from AC and must admit the whole experience with them has not been one I would want to repeat in a hurry; poor communication, delayed acknowledgment of Paypal payment (I had to tell them it was processed), estimated delivery date missed by 3 days and now this.  :(

Other than the catch, the seat itself is excellent new condition so I'll just have to dismantle the catch and straighten out the hook - I intend to keep the original seat even though it has a slight split and the foam is beginning to crumble.

CB750 / OE Petrol Cock pan screws?
« on: September 20, 2019, 12:36:43 PM »
Just offered up the DS supplied OE 93500-060-28A (6x28) K1 petrol cock retaining screws and found they are too short with just a few mm thread left to bite. The photos show the 'OE' screw against the one that came out (6x35) without the fibre washers and tank gasket fitted which would take up even more valuable thread.

The solution is to buy a couple of 6x35 pan screws or fit the ones that I removed, but was wondering whether anyone else has found this, or is it just me?

CB750 / Experience of fitting YAMIYA lower tank mouldings?
« on: September 18, 2019, 04:50:20 PM »
Has anyone fitted a set of the YAMIYA lower tank mouldings, they look pretty spot on: http://www.yamiya750.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2072

If so, I'd be grateful for your thoughts/experience before I shell out - I have a set of the DS version, but not happy with the fit even though I would make them fit eventually with some bending and trimming.

Thanks,
Andrew

CB750 / Fitting Lower Tank Trim Strips
« on: September 18, 2019, 09:42:21 AM »
The original lower tank trim strips on my K1 are a bit too brittle and cracked in a couple of places (particularly one side) to refit against Menno's lovely new paint - although I am considering it as they have aged nicely, unlike me.......

I have bought replacement replicas from DS which are not quite the same profile, but if I do use them I assume these are easily moulded using the tank brackets - the question is: do I also use heat from a hairdryer or is this not needed?

Thanks,
Andrew

CB750 / K1 brake wire rating?
« on: September 05, 2019, 02:29:23 PM »
Hello folks,

One of the wires to the hydraulic front brake switch on my K1 is pulling/fraying away from its bullet connector/plastic sheath as the wires were pretty tight. So I need to do some repair work to both connectors and lengthen the wires slightly and want to reuse the original connector/sheaths - can some please advise to the wire rating?

Thanks,
Andrew

CB750 / Correct K1 left side panel top grommet?
« on: August 27, 2019, 03:28:37 PM »
Looking to replace the side panel grommets on the K1 ......the Parts book lists two part numbers for the left side panel top grommets, item No1 on the diagram below: 17247-240-000 and 17247-303-000

DS supply both part numbers which appear to look the same, so grateful if someone can please advise which is the correct one?

17247-240-000 - https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/by-part-number/partnumber_17247240000/

17247-303-000 - https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/by-part-number/partnumber_17247303000/

Thanks
Andrew
