Title: Greetings from Manchester on Sea
Post by: Primus on September 23, 2020, 04:15:54 PM
Hi.  Paul here from Manchester. 61 years young.  I joined the other SOHC forum out of courtesy as I had used it on several occasions to assist with issues on my 750K7. I own a Harley Sportster 1200, a BSA B40, a Honda ST1100 and a CB750K7 with which I am currently chasing oil leaks.  I can't believe that the tacho oil seal had 2 seals in it and the lower one was like iron so I was convinced that I wasn't fitting the new one correctly. Measuring the depth ot the cavity proved that something was still in there and using the time honoured woodscrew trick worked.  I have recently re gasketted the gear change and alternator covers as well.  It is not only brit bikes that leak!  I hope to have some input.

Paul

Welcome to the forum Paul.

We've seen this engine on here,  examples of, with the crankcase breather plumbed together so they don't vent at all, resulting in sporadic leaks. Worth checking to see if anything like that is compromised and causing you problems.
