No idea whats it worth but would be very nice to have.

Misc / Open / HONDA V4 ... the bottom end?
« on: December 15, 2017, 07:34:37 AM »
I had a VF1000F inh the 90th. Came from my brother in law. Good bike, quick Autobahn-burner, very reliable. Made lots of km with her into the Alpes, Slowenia etc.

End of 90th, when I bought my first ZRX, I had to realize, there is nothing more anoying than selling a V4 Honda.
Even one perfect conditon with full service history. But eventually, I convinced a lad to buy her.

OK, thats 17 years ago I now I´ve been offered an early one for a box of beer. More or less neglected, standing for 4-5 years in a barn with broken engine. Is it worth the effort, V4 still the ugly duckly of the brand?

Here a pic of mine inthe 90th, later version with 18" front wheel

What to do with (bigger) dings/dents in muffler?

Have a nice set of "HMCB750" exhaust for German/Dutch K0/K1 that deserve to be rescued.

"This kit simply removes 2 strokes from your slow, lousy, bruised and battered CB750 4 stroker, transforming it into a RACING 2 STROKE MACHINE!"

CB750 / CB750 K0 clutch assembly
« on: October 27, 2017, 07:51:50 AM »
Have a problem with the new assembled clutch. Does not open, cant pull the clutch lever.

Just to make sure I did it correct: Does that outer ring looks with the open side to the outside or to the inside?
Given the table in my pic is tinside to the engine, is it correct that way?

Any other ideas why clutch does not open? It has the K0 basket, but I am not 100% sure if the inner basket ect. is K0 too.

CB750 / CB750 front fork pipe question
« on: November 22, 2016, 04:11:39 PM »
I can buy a set of NOS CB750 F2 front fork pipes (51410-393-003).

Will they fit into early KO (sandcast) and/or will I have to change more of the hardware to do so?

Thanks

Project Board / CB750 K0
« on: May 08, 2016, 05:21:46 PM »
Sandcast is bought and I will start soon with that project.

http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,9955.0.html

That bike needs a frame-off restoration with new paint, seat, pipes etc. pp.
So lots of parts that will be new because they are not there or wrong.

Now the inevitable patina- question...(I know, and old and often bespoke thing)

Make everything else as new or keep the patina where ever it is possible and sensible?

E.g. the master cylinder. Just cleaned it. So whats next

Overhaul and

- leave it as it is
- paint it black
- anodize it black

Or starter cover.
a 47 old year part with lots of rust, cleaned it. Now looks like this, far from being perfect.
Whats next:

- leave it as it is
- re-crome it
- buy a new one

Thanks for any input and comments.

CB750 / (CB750 and others) Master brake cylinder overhaul
« on: May 07, 2016, 07:06:48 PM »
Will have to overhaul my KO master brake cylinder. Boot is toast.

In order to get out the clip of the master brake piston HONDA says grip 07073-30001.

Where to get one or what tool do you use?

Other Bikes / Suzuki GT750
« on: May 06, 2016, 09:06:45 PM »
Been offered a 1978 GT750 B,
Two owners, only 30 tsd.  Km.
Very original and clean bike, genuine  black paint.

But: both upper exhaust pipes are badly scratched at the outside ends and the seat cover is toast.

Seller is asking € 4.500

I have no idea with these bikes.

Are there single pipes to buy and if so what does that cost?
Same with seat: are correct covers or seats available?

What do you think about the price given everything else is OK?

Thanks for any input, realy like that bike.
