Misc / Open / Spiralling cost of AA Battery
« on: November 07, 2022, 09:18:55 AM »
Whilst luxuriating in the Conservatory of Chez CDMonte and admiring all that I own, knowing it’ll need mowing, cutting back and cleaning. The Fence I did last year with concrete posts and new panels leading to a crucified back and left hip. Suddenly a loud bang from above made me jump spilling coffee over my lap and fast exit to bathroom to cool down jewellery.
Coming back down iinitially I couldn’t see anything out of order until I got to panel 3 of the polycarbonate roof to see a hole, looking around on the lawn I saw an AA Battery, I fixed the hole at which point Mrs CDMonte said how about we change the roof to one of these highly insulated and tiled roofs.
So, we asked a number of different roof installers to come and quote of which only one made any sense but it would require change of the Double glazing units and doors we have as like the roof they are 20 years old and a heavier roof may have an adverse affect on them..
Bugger thought I, that’s the budget shot, when we received the quote it was more than the first house I ever bought. So, a cheap AA Battery is going to cost me a load of dosh, the pay off is it will give us another room we can use all year round.
MrsCDMonte has stated the Honda will not be parked in it.

Does anyone on this site know of or can recommend any Chrome Plating Companies, I have viewed a few and it seems Chroming any item nowadays means leaving a limb plus money or the feeling you have just bought the place. Living in Oxford and being central means I have all the degrees of the compass to choose from when going anywhere.

Geezer decided to cycle to his off licence.
Got there and bought a bottle of Jack Daniels
Before cycling back he thought ‘if I fall off the bottle will break’
He drank the entire bottle before setting off.
He was glad he’d drunk the contents
Why ?
Because he fell off seven times before he reached home
Proving he’d been right.

CB350/400 / Parts ‘n’ all

Well took the plunge and bought front and rear mudguards for the bike, still got a lot more bits to purchase to get  her into top condition. When you chaps on here call them money pits you’re not wrong. Think this one’s going to be a mineshaft by the time I’ve finished. Think I’ll have to get back driving trucks again, bugger, just as I was getting to enjoy retirement.👍

CB350/400 / 400/4 Taiwan jet sets
« on: September 16, 2022, 08:03:31 PM »
Started to rebuild the carbs on the 400/4 using a complete rebuild set bought from Taiwan via Fleabay, put the needle jet for the float in and fixed in the float which to my surprise was at 21mm. That was the lowest point of the float to the carb body at it’s farthest it was 45mm and looking like a Tom tit on a pump handle.I’m going to search for the old needle jet to see if the replacement is too long which from the position of the float is the only thing that could be viable.
Anyone out there had this problem or am I unique ?

Hi to All,
As you may guess from the title the standard of youth ( suppleness and ability to cock one’s leg over the seat without problem ) has slowly been replaced by grey hair, eyesight that needs assistance and arthritis in hips knees and other lower parts causing one to wince a bit. I have owned and ridden all types of two wheeled machinery along with racing on four wheels and driving up to 44 Tonnes along the highways, byways and elsewhere causing others to get upset when I impede their progress 😀👍
So, I have owned a Honda 400/4 F2 since 1977, loved it so much I never got rid of her but time and lousy British weather have dictated that a complete strip down was necessary in order to return her to  an acceptable (to me) condition. No doubt I will have to be put on her like jousting Knights of old with a block and tackle. My eyes have however been opened by the price of parts for classic bikes which seem to have been drawn out of a hat and times by ten ( Ouch ) but one will have to grin and bear these things I suppose.
Anyway I wish all the best to those who own ride and tinker with their classics
