Title: cb750s exhausts
Post by: Bitsa (Ralph Wright - RIP) on August 12, 2013, 07:20:14 PM
Hi All,
Emailed DS and phoned CSM and got varying comments about availability of 300,341 and replicas exhaust systems and did not like what I heard. The question I have for you all is if they do not get replicated I for see the price of these bikes falling because you will not be able to restore them fully. What is available is going to cost you best part of 2 grand.Bearing this in mind a really nice bike going for shall we say 3000 pounds add on the exhaust and what have you got wow.I think those that have this prices should bear this in mind as some will think sod this its got out of hand and some restorations will not happen. In France I have been offered complete bikes for than less the price of an exhaust system now.Is this the end of classic standard bikes?
I really can not go back to craptad systems.Your thoughts guys and girls.
Cheers
Bitsa

My thoughts are that someone will step in and manufacture/ supply them again, there is a big market for them Yamiya and a vietnamese firm selling on ebay are currently supplying, but neither are cheap
What did DS and csml have to say then?

Pete,
DS said they are not hopefull that the replica firm can not continue with them no reason given.CS just said they hope to have some soon but did not sound convincing. The guy said we have a couple of sets left hm341s but could not forsee when they could have more though he did say they are not cheap. Understatment.
Cheers

Hi Bitsa & Pete, Dave Silvers commented on facebook this weekend saying they had a batch of 10 sets of hm300's coming from Japan,

with a further batch of 10 being made and hopefully in 2014 more being made?

final price hasn't been agreed but looking in the region of £1200 + vat for the European market ?  ;) cheers Mick.

I know this is headed CB750 exhausts,

but the 500/550  Hm 323 are short supply,DS has none,CMSnl has sets, very expensive,

I asked a guy at DS,he said they were looking to get sets made, but no information yet,

mine are 20yrs old,and getting scruffy, can expect then to corrode soon

CMsnl 500 sets are 1808 euros,on their conversion,£1,555  VAT included

must get my piggy bank filled

323's haven't been about for years, what was being sold were 374's which were the US K1/2 550 and the only difference was a load of legal blurb rolled into the steel before chroming which was at least on the inside so could only be read through the wheel spokes

I had to buy a complete bike to get a set of original exhausts for my 500. I think the price of bikes with all original parts will rise but non original will stay static.

Has anyone ever located anyone willing to rechrome exhausts? I have a nice solid set but for some staining to the chromed - battery acid by the looks of it.

Thanks Mick, but I have tried Bob; he can do them only if the baffles can be removed.

I think you can do so on hm300's, but not hm341's - though I'm not 100% sure on this.
