Title: Garrard SP25 mklll Anyone?
Post by: SteveD CB500K0 on February 13, 2022, 08:55:37 AM
Are there any vintage hifi buffs on here?

I’m looking for the above in order to relive my teens (and play the boxes of records I’ve just inherited from my Mum’s attic).

Can’t find any forums like this.

Ultimately I’d like to install an amp (into the plinth) so that I can hook up a laptop and save the audio files to play on my home system (all Sonos I’m afraid…)

That brings back memories Steve. I used to have the same turntable in 1978. I bought it brand new from Ketts (remember them?). I kept it for years before it went in the loft at my mum's and likely ended up at the local tip when she moved.

These do appear on eBay occasionally. There is a Garrard on at the moment, not the SP but it's replacement I think

Me and my mate built a twin deck for a mobile disco we were starting up using those. Brings back memories.

This site linked below  is fantastic .. the tech knowledge on there is unbelievable on anything electronic and vintage.  BUT they don't suffer fools and the MODS will kill your post if you step out of line ... like mentioning eBay or making posts bike or car orientated.

They have helped me out a lot and I gave a ton of stuff away on there for the cost of postage.

I preserve my vinyls on MiniDisk (nice library in the living room) where I can name, cut, combine, fade-out, etc... the tracks, when required import the ATRAC to PC via SonicStage and convert into MP3... (like when I want to add a song to my riding music in iTunes -> iPod on the bike's stereo...)
