Site Feedback / FAQ / How to... / Adverts???
« on: September 13, 2016, 09:09:39 AM »
This morning I had an email from Tapatalk advising that they had sent me $5 by PayPal as part of the monetization of the site.

I don't remember ever setting this up and would certainly have disable ads if I had known.

I don't get ads on Tapatalk though. Does anyone else?

Has anyone ever clicked on a link that took them to a commercial site?

Before I turn it off, I'd like to understand how I have managed to "earn" $5  :)

Misc / Open / Solar powered lamps in remote garage - question for Ash?
« on: September 13, 2016, 09:03:14 AM »
In my new house I have a garage in a block. It's not far away (about 50m) but I cannot dig up the tarmac and lay a power cable.
I'm thinking of solar power and LED lamps.
Anyone any experience with these low-power panels and the battery chargers that come with them?
There are plenty available from Maplin, Amazon etc - I want one that will last a good while and power 6 to 8 LED lamps (of about 5W each)

Misc / Open / Bike parking at Edgbaston?
« on: July 09, 2016, 08:40:02 PM »
Hi all.
My son has presented me with a ticket for the first day of the test match at Edgbaston on 3rd August.
Train from Reading is £122 return if booked now. Coach is £57 but 5 hrs each way.
So.
Where can I leave my bike (and kit) close to Edgbaston?

I have been trying to migrate the server all day (unsuccessfully).

Sorry for the blackout.

I will try again later in the weekend (maybe Sunday)

I have been thinking about how best to present a library of useful documents and articles.

How about something like this: http://info.sohc.co.uk ?

It needs some imagery (backgrounds, logo etc) but I've used this system on other websites and it works well as a download manager.

What do you think?

Ash - replace or in parallel with your dropbox?

PS: I've only dropped a couple of files in the 500 and 750 categories to test it out...

Other Bikes / CBR600FS1 (2002) Rear Wheel Needed
« on: March 14, 2016, 08:59:21 AM »
Long story short, my daughter's partner came off his CBR last week and the rear wheel is buckled.

I can't find a part number anywhere, just a couple of listings on eBay at £150-200

Any internet warrior out there who can find a art number for me?

Misc / Open / Merry Christmas to all SOHC-ers
« on: December 25, 2015, 07:50:01 AM »
It's not usual for me to be up at this time on Christmas morning but I was the driver last night so am bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning.

I hope you all have a great day and a prosperous new year.

Let's hope this global warming delivers us a decent riding season.

Steve.

Misc / Open / Looking for an AutoCAD guy in Cheshire
« on: December 02, 2015, 01:00:49 PM »
I'm looking for someone who can:
1. Take an AutoSketch drawing package and convert it into AutoCAD for 3D.
2. Take an existing product and generate a drawing package.
3. Create an illustrated installation guide (exploded diagrams etc)

Design office is in Marlow but the factory is in Sandbach.

Any ideas?

Announcements / sohc.co.uk 2007 - ?
« on: July 08, 2015, 08:36:26 PM »
As we approach the 8th anniversary of me taking over the management of this site from John Burrin (JonnyB), it's interesting to look at some of the stats...

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

On the 10th July 2007, there were 3 new topics and 8 posts.

Before that there was to "old" forum which I persuaded John to ditch for the SMF Forum (I had moderated www.sohc.net for a couple of years and helped Glenn with the admin so believed I could set up the UK site on the same platform).

I still hear from John - last was January of this year.

Post your best (or worst) bits of life on this forum :)

Misc / Open / Any salesforce.com users out there?
« on: June 01, 2015, 05:13:40 PM »
My bike club uses www.salesforce.com - the free-to-charities version. Unfortunately the "free" bit also means "no support"...

I know this is a long shot, but stranger things have happened.  :)

Announcements / Project Board
« on: April 28, 2015, 11:06:46 AM »
I have set up a Project Boardf as requested, however, it is up to you to move your project threads there. If you can't (or don't know how to), post here and I'll move it for you.

You know who you are and which threads are the best build threads - I'm not going through the whole database and subjecting you a;ll to what I think should be in there (that's democracy for you...)

Steve

PS: "Project Board" is a bit lame - anyone got a better idea for a title?

Misc / Open / Looking for boiler control board schematic...
« on: March 03, 2015, 03:26:32 PM »
A bit of a long shot this, but...

I have an Ideal Classic LX FF270 central heating boiler which cycles every 10 seconds. I have tried fault-finding all the various sensors but have come to the conclusion that it must be a degraded component on the control pcb.

I can fault-find the pcb if I can find a schematic (circuit diagram) anywhere. I have the Installation Guide which shows pin-outs etc but need to trace the various lock-out logic circuits.

Alternatively, I can get an exchange pcb for about £40 (or a new one for about £140)

Anyone?

Steve
