Misc / Open / Rack...which Bike« on: July 31, 2014, 01:07:27 PM »
Can anyone identify which bike this rack fits?
It came with a CB750K7 parts bike but the guy also had Superdreams so it could be off one of those. Cheers ...Ash 633
CB750 / Scan of CB article on FDH10H UK bike Article« on: July 31, 2014, 06:35:30 AM »
Interesting article from 1996 Classic Bike. Enjoy! The bike is a UK one in the 5000 VIN Range (March '70 reg).
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/80539gp2a5cw8p9/AADAPqIJKwgHuX8_5owa4cuQa Guys, really sorry about the large size of these files but I don't have a .pdf converter and my scanner is old! At least they are high res! I emailed the owner mentioned in the article (Bob Heath of visor/racing fame) and he still owns the bike. It's now done 500 miles I think! I also emailed him but no reply, as yet, about the history of why it was 'stored' at Honda UK? Cheers ... AshD 634

Misc / Open / Converting DSS nipples to correct gold« on: July 30, 2014, 12:38:33 AM »
Hi, Opened my packs of spokes I bought from DSS in 2009 as Kettle738 advised me they may not have correct gold passivated zinc plated nipples. He was correct they were found to be BZP.
Anyway experimented in the 'lab' late tonight (my utility room). Washed one in isopropanol to de-grease, cleaned with tissue, rinsed in de-ionised water then into the gold passivate from Gateros, rinse again then looking good. http://gaterosplating.co.uk/Replacement-Items.php Cheers .. Ash 636

CB750 / Japanese Domestic K0 at Lotherton Hall Show 10kGBP« on: July 27, 2014, 05:56:29 PM »
Japanese Domestic K0 at Lotherton Hall VJMC Northern Show 10k GBP ONO today ... see pics attached
For that price I would expect non verbage, scripted DID rims and a Yamiya or original seat cover... but hey what do I know. Note the domestic market red indicator lamp on the top yoke between the clocks to indicate over the Japanese speed limit I believe. Clock covers did not look right to me either. It must be late K0 as it has a single cut fender. Somehow these bikes don't look as nice in Gold. I think that's the colour for the K2 but it will be original as K0's were available in gold but not in the UK. If it's someone on here's bike, it's by no means a criticism , just my saddo obsession with originality... probably only just shows how much these have rocketed in price since I bought mine in 2008. Anyone else go there today? 1st time for me! Cheers .. AshD 640

Misc / Open / What would be your ideal resto 'tiddler'« on: July 23, 2014, 06:44:08 PM »
I have deliberately tried to step my resto projects in size. ie. CB250, 400/4, CB750. I did own a C200 as by first bike but I always liked the S90 much more, so that would be my choice if I ever restored another bike. What would be everyone's choice of smaller bike/tiddler?

Misc / Open / Speedo/tach Ratios on Honda's« on: July 20, 2014, 10:28:45 AM »
Anyone know what the ratios should be on CB750 and CB250k / 400/4 instruments of spindle speed to indicated MPH/RPM. I have got lots of sets of mainly CB250K0 clocks and I want to check them out by running them at various RPM's to make sure they are working correctly. I am using a servomotor from one of my 'work' projects with a calibrated tachometer on it to check them out, fitted with a square drive to suit Honda instruments.
My 69' 750K0 plastic bodied speedometer has this stamped on it (see pic attached) Cheers ... AshD 644

Misc / Open / Customs charges on refunded items« on: July 16, 2014, 08:47:56 AM »
I bought some parts from a guy on eBay USA recently and they turned out not to be as described (aren't they all ). However, to be fair to the seller, it seems like a genuine error and he refunded me 50% of the selling price and the parts were a bargain anyway (apart from customs charges and Parcelforce's hike) and I can still use them. Not that I can be bothered to chase up but what's the situation regarding goods refunded and the customs charges, is there any kind of refund? Anyone know?
