CB750 / CB750K6 float height
« on: June 24, 2023, 05:45:40 PM »
Hi. I've seen a couple of different dimensions listed for CB750 float heights (maybe because they are different for different models). Can anyone let me know the correct height for the CB750K6? I will be measuring from the small ridge inside the channel for the bowl gasket to the top of the float just as the needle valve closes - correct? While I'm here - is 2 turns out for the air screw a good place to start? Many thanks. Phil

CB750 / CB750 carb air screws - which way to turn?
« on: May 26, 2022, 09:53:47 AM »
Hi. I recently got my CB750 K6 back on the road again after a full carb strip / clean / carb kit and rebuild. The bike runs fine and out on the open road I have no problems.  However I let it run at about 4000 rpm for about 15 mins stationary and whereas the two left hand pipes were fine the two right hand started to blue slightly (first 6”). So that means 3 & 4 running lean correct?  So which way to turn the screw to make the mixture stronger?  Thanks. Phil. (PS. I realise was probably a mistake to run at a standstill at higher revs but what is done is done - won’t do it again).

CB750 / Air screw CB750K6
« on: July 25, 2020, 06:26:48 PM »
Quick question regarding the correct setting for the air screws on a standard UK CB750K6. Bike starts and runs perfectly with the screws 1 turn out. But have read somewhere that they should be 1.75 turns out? Could someone let me know the correct setting? Also, does the engine run richer or leaner as the screw is wound out?

CB750 / CB750 K4 rebore
« on: July 22, 2020, 07:43:49 AM »
Can anyone recommend a company to complete a re-bore on a set of K4 barrels.  Also I'd like them vapour blasted - so if there was somewhere that you'd recommend who can do both the vapour blasting and rebore that would be ideal.

I've read somewhere that companies not experienced in CB750s can use the wrong tolerances for the re-bore? That seems strange as I would have thought a +0.25 piston would just need a +0.25 barrel over and above the standard to the normal tolerances? But is there anything I should be careful to mention to whoever does this work?

CB750 / What's it worth?
« on: July 17, 2020, 04:05:06 PM »
Hi. After 10 years I've finally finished my UK K6 restoration project (started first time today and sounds amazing). It was a complete strip down / engine rebuild (I had that done by someone else) and the philosophy was to not put anything back on the bike unless it was original and perfect or a new part from Honda. I realise it's cost a lot more over the years than its worth - but was interested what I should be insuring for? She really is beautiful and I would imagine could be one of the best? Any ideas on insurance value? I've attached a photo (rear footrests and disc guard still to go on).

CB750 / CB750K6 rear wheel removal
« on: July 16, 2020, 08:40:14 AM »
So thanks to you lot the exhausts are now installed and went in quite easily in the end. But looking at the bike now it appears that the LHS exhausts have to be removed to get the rear wheel off now? That doesn't seem very "Honda" (I've had 8 over the years) so was just checking I'm not making another stupid mistake similar to when I was trying to fit the exhausts a couple of days ago? (I don't need to remove the rear wheel just now - but just checking for the future). Cheers. Phil

CB750 / Major problem fitting exhausts.
« on: July 14, 2020, 01:48:22 PM »
So - feeling quite depressed now. I couldnt seem to make the new exhaust system for the K6 line up with the rear mounting point once the end was in the cylinder head.  Have just checked the part numbers and two of the pipes supplied have different part numbers to the K6 drawing / parts list (the two without the decal that screws on). Checking part numbers the system I have is for a pre-K6 model. But the question is - is a K6 exhaust system different in terms of dimensions to a pre-K6 version. Or should the exhaust systems be interchangeable?  The photo shows the part numbers I have.

Also, the main supporting bolt at the rear is too large a diameter to fit through the rear footrest brackets. However I bought the footrest brackets new from the K6 page of CMSNL - so this is all getting very strange.

Hopefully I'm doing something stupid. That wouldn't be the first time. But has anyone got any ideas?

CB750 / Where does "bush rubber B" go on the exhaust?
« on: July 14, 2020, 11:41:12 AM »
Hi. So I'm back with a question. In the David Silver exhaust fitting kit I have two rubber bushes part no. 40548-268-000. However on the exhaust system drawing / parts list (from CMSNL) I can't see that part.  Any ideas where those should go? Photo of mystery part attached.

Hi. I'm at the very end of my K6 project (10yrs!) And about to install the exhausts. I bought a brand new set of factory pipes from Honda when I first bought the bike plus a fitting kit from David Silver Spares (all Honda bits but they put everything in one bag). See photos. Everyone has been so helpful as I've put this together I just so here's if there are any "top tips" or things to be careful of before / as I install.  I guess they are worth quite a bit now so don't want to mess them up. Any help much appreciated as ever. Phil

CB750 / CB750K6 crankcase and cylinder head breathers
« on: July 11, 2020, 07:21:31 AM »
I'm having trouble working out where the crankcase and cylinder head breathers route on my CB750K6. The parts list has a breather on the crankcase (12mm dia x 185 long) with spring clips on both ends - but not obvious where the other end pushes on to (the K6 oil tank doesn't have the pipe on the oil tank the earlier models had). Similarly I'm not sure where the cylinder head breather should route (and not sure how long that pipe should be). Any help much appreciated. Phil

CB750 / CB750K6 restoration project. Disc cover fowls on disc
« on: July 05, 2020, 01:12:03 PM »
Hi. Hoping someone can help me. I'm at the very end of a restoration project on a K6 and tried to fit the disc cover - but it fowls on the disc. The disc appears to be the right size as it just reaches the top of the pads. I'm wondering if I have a pair of CB 400 lower fork sections - which could have the mounting brackets for the cover in a slightly different place?  Or am I missing something easy?  Everything else appears to line up / bolt on perfectly.

CB750 / CB750 K6 Left Hand Side Switch Unit (Indicators)
« on: June 22, 2020, 07:27:21 PM »
Hi. I'm nearing the end of my CB750K6 restoration and needed to replace the LHS switch unit (indicators). It's a brand new unit from CMSNL - but I can't see anywhere for the cables to go as they come out of the unit. They exit from the same hole the handlebars should locate into - so there is no way there is room for the switch to clamp shut around the bars. On the old switch looks like someone has cut a slot with a hacksaw to give the cables space to exit. But seems very strange to have to do that for a brand new part. Am I missing something?

CB750 / CB750K6 UK Frame Name Plate / VIN Plate
« on: May 21, 2020, 06:03:49 PM »
Hi. Does anyone have a photo of a UK K6 frame name plate?  The frame number is stamped on the frame but the plate is missing (left off after a re-spray). I can get hold of a USA version but that references Federal Law - or did the UK K6 have the same name plate as the USA version? Thanks. Phil
