CB750 / Re: Front fork lengths
« on: May 06, 2020, 10:53:51 PM »
Hi, the spring lengths are the same & so are the fork slider bottoms. The inner damper rod that is fixed to the bottom slider via machined hole at the base & a socket screw is approx 30mm longer as well. I guess I would need to find out from Honda the correct lengths per item for model & year. The suggestion that they came of another bike due to the age is perfectly feasible. I could leave it for the time being & see how the bike sits when finished !!!
Thanks for the replies 😎

CB750 / Front fork lengths

Hi all, just bought two 1977 & 1978 CB750F2 supersports & have been renovating them. The 78' came in bits, the frame etc already painted & ready to build. The 78' is a complete non running shed of a bike. Just finished reassembling the 77' forks & realised they are approximately 30mm longer than the 78' forks. Upon a strip down the 77' fork stanchion pipes are longer than the 78's !! Does anyone know why as they are meant to be the same bike ?

Thank you for that. I've now managed to get the lacquer off the rim using a scrubber disc that has a backing pad & mandrill to fit a drill. If careful it will leave a finish of about a 180 grit. I've then polished the rims to a nice high shiny finish 😎

Hi, yes I had heard that but as they are pitted in places with a bit of rust I'm shot blasting the spokes then spray painting in a colour very close to the cadmium colour then polishing the rims & lacquering everything. Thanks for the advice 😎

Hi everyone I'm new on here & live in Halifax UK. I Recently bought two CB750F2 super sports to restore one to 100% original & the other to a cafe style racer thingy 😂
Has anyone tried to strip the lacquer off the comstar rims ? Various types of paint stripper won't touch it, it's like bulletproof!! There must be something out there to get this lacquer off ?? I want to re paint the spokes & polish the rims & then lacquer the whole wheel.
Regards
Bob
