If you just want the CB400/4 insured, whoever you go with it shouldn't cost much more than £60 fully comp. Swinton are good.

That's a nice project you have there Sye. It may be rusty with birds nest wiring but it looks  mainly  all there which is a very good starting point.

Can you see corresponding damage on the split link pins?

If you get chance you will have to pop in for a cuppa, we are only about 3 miles from East Kirkby and also 3 miles from the BBMF at Coningsby. The Lancaster took off about 10 mins ago with some Spitfires.

David Silver standard chain. But, your damage may be caused by clutch adjustment, is the cork screw thingy fully home and have you checked to make sure the original ball bearing still isn't in there somewhere?.

Could be a stuck piston ring/s.

I got to 124 miles and still wasn't on reserve on my CB400/4 and they have very small tanks. I must have been riding sensibly so would have been when running in after engine rebuild 🙂🙂🙂

Not sure what I get out of mine but definitely get well over 80, nearer the 100 I expect. This is on a CB550 but with a CB500 tank fitted.

My advice for what it's worth is don't fettle the engine until you have done at least 500 miles. Then all the usual, oil and filter change, adjust tappets, vacuum sync carbs and strobe timing. The front brake sounds almost normal to me. A disc skim may help if not already done.
