CB750 / Re: Primary chain k2

Yes, 70mm for the CB750K. I left mine alone at 68.2mm until I next take the engine out, as I had no other reason to go into the engine case. Maybe should have done it, if I had the opportunity again, I would, but I didn't know the top end would go back together so easily at the time and didn't want to get in above my head.

I have 40,000 miles on mine, so 1.3mm wear or 'stretch' per 10k, if it's linear!

Weather has been a bit average here Ted still having to flick the heating on couple of times a day. Hopefully warmer weather on the way!

What doesn't Julie stock!  Took me a while but now realise you meant central heating, I'm determined not to load our pellet boiler until September at the earliest.

It's annoying that summer comes along and so many jobs need doing but good to see the 500 is pretty much done.

CB350/400 / Re: Gear lever rose joint removal

Thanks all for you replies!

I asked Ken (Oddjob) (via text) and he's suggested replacing the rose joints completely, so that's what I am going to do. Drill the stud/ball out of the levers and fit new joints.

I've tried picking those dam circlips and although they move, they are very good at holding the joint together fortunately/unfortunately !

The oil light switch decided to stop working when I was going to set the static timing - it just stayed off so replacement via NJ fitted today.
Due to a raft of household type jobs & Wendy's Freelander decided it did not want to crank over I've been distracted. Thank goodness I had Home Start on her Insurance. Iffy starter motor so RAC Smart Service are fitting it on our driveway on Monday.

It will be after the weekend now before I can do any more on the 500. Not sure how it's affecting members here but we had the CH on again last night & this evening.

I'll give it a try later Ted.  So why don't they suggest connecting it up on the ignition side rather than from the coil I wonder, then again looking at the instructions I'm not surprised.

It says its suitable for both, I think it's reading around half the revs on setting 2 which is 1 rpm signal per 2 ignitions so u wonder if I change it to setting 4 which is 1 rpm signal per 4 ignitions

Is you rev counter designed to work with electronic ignition the switching signal profile might be unsuitable.

As you are dealing with an inducted circuit it might be possible to dampen it. Electronics is not my forte.
