Very nice house you have. Must take some cleaning ;) The bike is nice. Is that brake disc safe?

No issues with the front brake, so yes, it is safe.

I can see that getting clobbered by speed humps, nice pipe, shame about the design work that clearly hasn't gone into it.

Possibly, but this was designed by Yoshimura who are a quality outfit.  I can't remember if speed humps were about in the 1970's when the exhaust was first manufactured.  Next speed hump will be interesting.

First link to open pipe (baffle removed, nice but too loud).  Second link to drilled end cap and baffle refitted.  The exhaust was too quiet with the baffle as supplied.

The front mudguard is fibreglass painted green mounted directly onto the original mounting points.  No fork brace at the moment.

Hi Rob,
Give us a bit of info on that front disc. I've done a cafe conversion on a 400 and the worst part of the bike is the wooden feeling front brake. My current set up is standard disc and calliper with an early 90s GSXR master cylinder.
Cheers, Dan

The brake has not yet been tried so I don't know if it is fit for purpose as yet!  The master cylinder was sourced from a 2006 Yamaha XT600.  Caliper is stock, fitted with sintered pads and a SS braided hose.

First shakedown run is imminent, or as soon as the salt disappears!

CB350/400 / Fork Oil Weight & Air Gap. 1977 CB400F
« on: February 12, 2013, 10:38:23 AM »
Can anyone recommend the correct fork oil weight and air gap, when rebuilding the forks on my 1977 CB400F.  My Haynes manual is not very good!

Thanks.

Rob have you ever rode a bike with clipons ? they have to be the most unpractical awkward , back and neck destroying bars out there, but for some strange reason it seems like your going faster, when i take my Rickman out it takes me ages to get the hang of riding with such low bars, but hey dont they look good, keep up the good work
Wher did you get youir seat done?
Pete

Virtually every bike I have owned has had clip-ons 8)

Seat upholstery carred out at http://www.vikingmotorcycleseats.co.uk/index.html
The seat cover is secured by the pop studs, so can be removed from the base.  This allows the base to be secured under the cushon so there are no ugly fixings on show.
