I have a spare rear hub here that I'm going to refurb but which way does the bearing retainer undo?. I have looked in Haynes and the Shop Manual but it makes no mention. Does this lack of mention mean it undoes the normal way, or is it a back to front thread, so......left or right to undo?

It's normal RH thread Julie ..the only LH thread I have found on a Honda was on the 500/4 and it's steel on that one.
I removed a couple of 400/4 retainers last week ... I made the mistake of not drilling out the staking indents enough on the 1st .. second was dead easy once drilled deep enough.

No Paul, Incommunicado as they say. He is in mass engine stripping / prepping /building mode and I am in rear hub mode. From a conversational point of view they are totally incompatible, I am wanting to talk huge hammers and he is mumbling on about so many 'thou of a 'thou, so, on my own with this one ;D ;D ;D
