Title: Rogues Gallery
Post by: SteveD CB500K0 on December 21, 2014, 10:07:11 PM
Many years ago I started a "Mugshots" thread on .net (actually it was started by Raul in Spain - and it was 2005)

There are now 29 pages of them.

I think its about time we had one on here...

Sexy ! The bike is a work of art. I had the KH250 to pass my test but, always wanted a RD250 or the 350. Ended up with a RD500LC and sorry to say but, sold it for a XJ650Turbo. Mistake !

Seems a 400 in that condition is about 5k. Yours probably not much less I suppose. Great that you kept it all these years. Everyone else is looking for theirs!

Did they come with a centre stand?
Title: Re: Rogues Gallery
Post by: Bodd on January 09, 2015, 06:22:26 PM
It has got a centre stand, it's on it in the photo where I am stood behind it, I was once offered £4000 for it by the guy who owns the garage where I get it MOT'd but as I've had it so long I can't bring myself to sell it, I knocked a lamppost down with the RD125 further up this thread 2 days before I was due to take my test and I needed a bike ASAP so I bought the 250 whilst the 125 was being fixed (bent forks and buckled wheel) then sold the 125 which was already paid for with my summer job money (I bought it when I was 16) and kept the 250 which was on HP, I used the money from the 125 to pay off part of the 250.

You think that hairstyle was bad, move on a couple of years, add a TZ750 fairing and some other bits and bobs to the K6 and forget to get a haircut.

I found this old one from the 70s when I was riding either a BSA 250 C15 or just got my first Triumph, a T100.
On the wall is John Webley's Cheltenham Motorcycle Road Race poster as seen in his post. I went there with my mate, peteberr on here, he was riding a Honda CB250K.

Bought a job lot of 3 bikes about 4 years ago - cb750F2 Bol Dor, CB900 FA and the bike you see in the pic - a CB1100F with a 900 engine that had WISECO 985 Kit on. The latter was in bits (inc top end of engine) and I rebuilt it as a Spencer Rep. It had CBR 600 wheels/brakes, a box section swing arm, Laverda Jota forks and billet yokes. Sold it straight away at a good profit that funded the K2 build, (broke the 900 as it was rough and sold the 750 Bol Do Jap import to a guy in IOM)
Spencer Rep was a great bike to ride

Great looking Spencer rep Phil, that's a keeper.
This is me in 1981 on my 2 valve Jawa speedway bike at the old Milton Keynes training track at Elfield Park. I used to train here and at Iwade in Kent. I used to train at Wimbledon under the guidance of Malcom Simmons. I remember once racing against a very young and talented Kelvin Tatum, a very gifted racer. Kelvin went onto achieve greatness, I achieved retirement a couple of years after, crashing hurts when there's no brakes to slow you down!

If this link & video  still works it will give you some background we moved back into our rebuilt home in July 2018.

So long ago and I haven't changed a bit!  ;D

It seemed like a good idea at the time to fit a Rickman fairing and clip-ons to my 72 reg'd CB750 K1 (JML 60K) but it gave me the turning circle of a bus, so that stuff came off sharpish!

After a search and contact with the DVLA failed to find it some years back, the dealer Bill Bunn MCs in Ealing who sold it to me June 1977 contacted me through FB to say he'd run a HPI check and it appears it was written off in 1989.  :-\

When I've eventually finished recommissioning my 11/70 K1 I'll ride out to Richmond Park and recreate the photo in the car park near Roehampton gate, although of course they've tarmacked since.

Me on the Honda back in 1977, wearing my brand new Honda leathers styled in Red White and Blue for that year.
Six weeks later I was thankful for the leathers having sailed down the road on my butt due to the front tyre losing grip on a corner at 60mph.
The bike came up over on top of me knocking me out and coming too in the hedge, bike crash bar did it’s job with no damage to bike .
Leathers ruined, crash hat split from back to visor aperture neck muscles spasmed and one broken metacarpal in left hand.
Was forever grateful for good riding gear instead of having life changing injuries to cope with, remember this was the time helmet laws just came in and bikers were railing against it.
Second photo standing in fish pond erecting stone wall fortunately no fish in it.

Hmmm! Don’t know what happened there, seems like I’m from the Antipodes, apparently if you tap on the photo it expands and goes right way up 😀 Computers 👹 I’ve put the piccy of me back in 1977  on my 400/4 which I still have👍😀

Plenty of the younger lads had Fizzies around my area but mine was a BSA Bantam 175, it kept me busy every weekend either cleaning or fixing what had broken, fallen or broken off or was in the process of doing all three, the rectifier was a particular favourite for undoing bolts washers fixing wire or anything else designed to hold it in position. Most hair raising moment was going downhill late at night heading under a bridge towards a right hand bend when the headlight fell out and I had the best lit front mudguard and almost brown trousers moment.☠️👹😱

oosh, thats a tidy fizzy, what are they going for in that nick down there Lobo, about 5K?

Not as desirable this end Roo, as specifically a UK spec’d bike. Tried last year at £4.5K or so… failed. I’m retrying it now at mid 3’s … I paid £3999 eBay bid 7 years ago Uk.
Was naive to bring it to Oz I guess, but hey, it’s given me fun.

Wow… as typing this got a call from my ad… an English guy here who had an N reg (mine too) Purple Popsical @ 16yo. Fairly local - fingers crossed.

I could never get my late Mum to even try to sit on my bike when on the centre stand - she hated my motorcycles - not due to the danger aspect it was the oils spills from my Triumph 21.

Found some old photos, so here's my first bike Bantam 175 in 1973. It cost £30 from an old guy round the corner.  Terrible hair!
By 75 had gone through a few bikes then got a Triumph Tiger T100a for £100. Front mudguard was temporary until I fitted an ally one.
Last one is recent, out on a run to the 'secret bridge'. I'm the baldy on the left. 😊
