CB350/400 / CB350F headlight diameter
« on: December 30, 2023, 10:36:49 PM »
Evening - I’m after some advice from a CB350F owner.

I recently sold a NOS headlight ring on eBay, as per the part number on the bag it came in: 33101-333-670

Link to item I sold:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145475701820?hash=item21df070c3c:g:iywAAOSwR4xla3CY&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwB3Qeu5nFzWfA7%2F3Nn5qBm0vKpJu%2F6yOsKAYa83BXCbIx0c1DtFMppxLndlTOWWwMzWNn9DFhWsMLxEQNqh0aL3WmwAydJ8eGyOfdGHXYlEPM99xBeCdIO5P1YG5uLapn0P7Qsb9QPVfetPQZFZWVdxLL%2FshZqNs6KBrMCQsDweSPrZlypjT%2Bh4PFuGTbu70BidrjiPIR%2B%2FV9ATJNdrAFVscicP7VaWraQWae%2B%2FGjawWyvpstkAMlX9lX93Sfm3PsA%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR4bd8M2XYw

Link to cmsnl:

https://www.cmsnl.com/products/rim-head-light_33101333670/

The buyer has received the item (overseas) and is saying it’s the wrong diameter and isn’t correct?

I’m not very familiar with the CB350F, and don’t have one here to compare.

Can anyone advise if the buyer is correct or if what I’ve sold is correct?

I want to do the right thing by the buyer as this wasn’t cheap and want to be sure if I’ve mis-sold here, but also want to protect myself.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

James

Member 4 Sales / 15 bikes for sale - selling off my entire collection
« on: September 20, 2023, 08:47:00 PM »
Well, the time has come to start selling off my bike collection (15 bikes in total).

Priorities change, and it's time for me to change direction. Don't worry, all good here and nothing in particular has driven this decision. I'm blessed to be in good health, have a growing young family who are thriving and the 'day job' is all good.

I still pan to do the odd restoration here and there, but not at the volume I've undertaken over recent years.

I just know in my heart of hearts it's time to explore a few other opportunities.  To be clear, this isn't a fire sale. I take pride in the quality of my bikes (both the original and the restored ones), and if these don't sell privately, they'll go on eBay with a sensible reserve on a timed auction.

I'm just putting prices on here now to comply with forum rules, and I already have some pre-interest in some of the bikes through existing contacts.

I'll take detailed photographs in the coming days/weeks and firm up pricing & detailed descriptions for each. All bikes are in good running condition/ready to go unless otherwise stated.

Here's the 'list' as it stands:

1976  Suzuki GS750 - 3578 miles, Blue, superb 1st year model, unrestored original machine with spare NOS Suzuki exhaust system - £6995

Honda CB750 Sandcast, K0, K1  newly manufactured Carb Intake / Airbox Clamp Sets (sets of 12 incl. JIS screws)

In recent years I’ve been struggling to source good quality, used carb/airbox clamps for my Sandcast/K0 restorations.

These are the ‘flat’ finish, non-ribbed style clamps that were used on Sandcast, K0 and K1. K2/3 onwards used the ‘ribbed’ style.

The original Honda part number is: 17255-300-000

DSS/CMSNL can only supply the superseded Honda clamps (finished in a black painted finish) at a cost of £9.50 each. These have the ‘ribbed’ design and in my opinion just let down a concours/authentic restoration or rebuild.

The other issue with refurbishing original clamps is that quite often the original 5mm diameter clearance hole for the M4 screw (where the head of the screw ‘seats’ to provide the clamping force) suffers with deformation or ‘pull through’, which means that often very low clamping force is applied by the used clamp.

Consequently I’ve tooled up and had a small batch of reproduction clamps made to the original Honda specification for these machines.

This is as exact a replica of the OEM / Honda part as I could produce at a reasonable cost.

These are manufactured with modern ‘medium carbon / high manganese spring steel’, and finished in a BZP finish. I’ve also sourced new OEM M4 screws from Japan (correct JIS spec with the ‘dot’ on the screw head).

I’ll be selling these first batch of 20 sets as a complete set of 12, for £120/set plus shipping.

Please drop me a direct message with your shipping details if you’re interested in purchasing a set. I’m happy to ship worldwide at cost (I’m based in the UK).

Not my taste, but shows what can be achieved with judicious amounts of powder coating.

Well, now the Police bike if finished and has found a new home, it’s time to start a new thread. I must be a sucker for punishment so here goes..

Let’s commence the simultaneous restoration of two early UK CB750 K0’s - AYO 63H and AYO 64H.

There’s a bit of a back story to these bikes, but to cut a long story short I purchased them back in 2016 as dismantled ‘basket cases’ and they’ve sat waiting for my attention until now.

The engines were rebuilt by Graham back in 2018 and have sat in dry storage since then.

The PO had powder coated all of the cycle parts and frame but the finish was frankly awful and the prep work obviously much the same.

So I had the PC stripped from everything back in 2019 and everything properly painted in 2 pack semi-gloss.

I’ve been collecting various parts over the past few years and now I’m in a position to move ahead.

Just noticed DSS seems to have applied a blanket price increase across all parts on the site? Anyone else noticed this?

Project Board / 1975 CB750 P2 Police Bike
« on: December 10, 2021, 12:42:41 AM »
So, now that the ‘68 CL450 has finally ‘had it’s turn’ I thought I’d start work on this ‘plod’ bike that I’ve had for a few years now.

This is an ex-Saudi CB750 P2 - and let’s just say it’s going to need a LOT of love and attention.

This is going to be a slow-burner over the winter months, especially given the amount of painting required..

Anyway, as they say a picture paints a thousand words, so those of a rust-averse disposition best look away now…

The Black Bomber Board / 1968 CL450 K0 - light recomission
« on: December 04, 2021, 06:51:56 PM »
I purchased this bike back in 2017 and it’s sat at the back of the workshop awaiting its turn.

My next 750 restoration is going to be the CB750P2 Police bike, so whilst the engine for that is being finished up I thought it was about time the CL had its turn.

When I got the bike back in 2017 I serviced it thoroughly and had it MOT’d and then ‘other projects’ got in the way and it was drained of fluids, cylinders fogged and put into hibernation.

The paint set was sent over to Menno with the plan to recommission the bike for the 2018 season.

Here we are in 2021 and it’s now time to sort it..

This is a very early CL (vin is the 67xx range) and was a complete and original (albeit quite cosmetically tired) when it came to me.

So the plan for this was to completely strip and clean, but not over restore or do a full nut and bolt restoration, as this didn’t seem to stack up financially or imho do the bike justice.

I started the strip-down back in August 2021 and stupidly didn’t take that many photos initially, so there are some big gaps in the process…

Here a photo of the bike back in 2017 just prior to its export to the UK..(it’s a Kansas bike originally) .

CB750 / Value of an unrestored K0
« on: April 15, 2021, 11:41:28 PM »
A good friend of mine is interested in buying my unrestored Gold K0.

I’m having a good purge of bikes I know I’ll never really use so my three unrestored 750 K0’s will be sold in the coming weeks/months.

The Gold bike is wearing original unstamped HM300’s that are complete solid throughout. I also have the original 18” rear rim for the bike. It’s a solid, nice running, low mileage machine with superb chrome.

I know I’m probably best palaced to value the bike to be honest (I have a figure in mind that I’ve discussed with him), but I’d welcome some Input from other forum members, as there seem to be lots of varying quality 750’s on the market at the moment. All opinions welcomed.

CB750 / Buyer beware...DK selling restamped Sandcast 750
« on: October 10, 2020, 08:17:33 PM »
Just in case anyone's considering bidding on this, I strongly advise you not to. The frame is a (poor) re-stamp which renders this pretty much worthless. Have pointed this out to the seller's (DK) who don't seem too bothered and haven't updated the advert even after in pointed this out. See below photo they sent me of headstock VIN stamping.
