Project Board / Re: Another F2 Cafe Project
« on: November 15, 2015, 07:40:29 PM »
Its a K hub, machined to take gs1000 Suzuki discs.

Its also possible to use a GT 250 380 500. 550 750 Suzuki hub, with the GS discs but some spacers are needed behind the discs. The spindles are the same diameter, and the CB 250 400 speedo drive fits.

CB750 / Re: Hot breath
« on: November 13, 2015, 03:15:40 PM »
The breather in the head is a pretty simple affair, comes off with 4 screws, I think you can get it off with the engine, it'd be a daft design if you cant. Just make sure it and the hoses are clear, it must be pretty gummed up if its venting up the cable, I would think it would blow the breather hose off before reaching the tacho head...

I'm wondering whether I'll ever ride mine when they are done, they are going to feel pretty lame after Fireblades, GSXRs, R1s and now the XJR1300.....

You can always check the rolling radius of the tyres fitted to the K7 and earlier models.
The 17" tyre looks taller in the sidewall, so is probably similar enough to an narrower 18" tyre not to worry about.

Reading this has sparked my enthusiasm again Thanks Yozzer, your build id looking great.

Where did you get the head work done, that's all I need to be able to put my F2 motor back together and drop the frame over it, iirc you're in Barnsley aren't you, I'm only down the road on the outskirts of Sheffield.

I'm going pretty much the same look, everything will be either black or polished alloy, using the same brakes but with spoke wheels, back from an F1, front is Suzuki, both with flanged Borani rims.

Contact details are here : http://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/my-bike/year-of-manufacture.html

I've a letter on the way snail mail will update when I get a response.

The VTR1000 twistgrip body will work with the standard grip, and give you what you need, plus its all Honda and will look factory.

CB750 / Honda year of manufacture contact
« on: October 18, 2015, 03:44:24 PM »
I was checking my paperwork and realised my YOM certificate has the wrong chassis number, they've typed a 2 for a 4, clearly DVLA will spot this too.
Problem is I've lost the contact details for the one helpful person at Honda, does anyone have her contact, I think its Sarah, Tracey or a similar name? I also remember emailing, so if anyone has the email address it would be great.
Cheers.
Pete.

CB750 / Early K Fork Gator fitting
« on: October 11, 2015, 01:59:55 PM »
Hope someone can help me, I just tried to fit the K2 fork gators onto the headlamp brackets, how on earth do you get the chrome trim ring on, it wont slide up the bracket 1st, if I put it on the gator first there is no way it will go on the bracket...

Should he ring be able to slide up the bracket? I have welded some new metal in where there was corrosion so may have ended up with them too big in diameter......

CB750 / Re: CB750 Exhaust studs
« on: October 10, 2015, 12:00:45 PM »
I'm building an F1 and an F2 engine, so if they are m8 at both ends it makes spinning a few up in stainless a lot easier.

Cheers.

CB750 / CB750 Exhaust studs
« on: October 10, 2015, 11:18:43 AM »
The exhaust studs in my engine had been replaced with bits of threaded bar.

Am I right in thinking the genuine ones reduce in diameter to M6 ?? looking at various pictures they seem to reduce in diameter I'm guessing to give some fitting clearance for the collars.

CB750 / F1 F2 Barrel to head dowels.
« on: July 25, 2015, 04:44:52 PM »
I'm in the process of building 2 engines, a 392 and a 410.

The 392 F1 has 8 dowels with rubber collars 4 each between 1 & 2 and 3 & 4, easy.

The 410 parts book only shows 4 dowels, do these go on the inner or outer studs, I can't make it out from the drawings, I'm guessing its something to do with the single oil drains on the 410.

Cheers.

Pete.

If you want a Mead Speed rep tank order it now, I just got to the top of the list after 2 years.

Pity I'm doing something different now and will be giving back word......
