Quite  surprised with the £2K final bid. I would have thought £1.5K, although it does have all the hard to find parts.
Completed a 'sloper' restoration 9 years ago...final re-chroming bill on this bike...£££

'volt-drop' on 6 volt motorcycles can be a problem as they age due to corroded wire/connectors/switch gear.  As the original post, assembling a new wire harness with 2mm cable, as to the original 1mm cable would help, as the resistance value per metre of 2mm cable is lower that 1mm cable.
Fitted a new wire harness (2mm cable) to my XL500s (6 volt system) as image a number of years ago...it did improve the lighting system.

Excellent job. Completed a CD175A restoration a number of years ago, but never sourced the original all plastic tank badges

A bit overpriced for a K5 at £8K...I have a K4, values are always lower for the US K3,K4.K5 versions...maybe £6K?

The 16amp & 20amp RCB & RCBO's with a B rated tripping curve is the most popular option. C & D tripping curves MCB/RCBO's could be required in domestic properties...you may have a fridge/freezer/compressor that is nuisance tripping on a B rated MCB/RCBO. But in all cases the Earth Fault Loop Impedance of the circuit must be confirmed by test or design when choosing B,C,D rated RCD/RCBO's.
When your friend comes around ask him to check the Ze & Zs of the installation.

All sounds good. RCBO’s are the preferred method for overload & short-circuit protection. Again, ask your friend to check the tripping times of the RCBO’s to confirm that devices operate at safe levels.

Replace the switched fused spur to a 20amp DP switch...the fitted 13amp switched fused spur is a little undersized for the 3.4k/watt heater. This circuit should also be connected to a 20amp mcb within the off-peak/night rate consumer unit.
The other 24 hour heater circuit can be connected to the ring-main via a 13 amp switched spur...or better still a dedicated 16amp mcb circuit from the 24 hour consumer unit.
Do you have assess to an insulation tester & earth fault loop impedance tester?

Ken, what size dual storage heater did you purchase? You also referenced a double pole switched 'socket'...should this be '20amp switch'?

The aftermarket wire harnesses produced in Taiwan are much cheaper than what I can produce them for.
Personally, I have not seen that many, so cannot confirm on the quality.

Not sure if your meter reads DC amps?   If so, you can connect a + fused lead from the meter to your battery + terminal (battery must be fully charged)
Then remove the white flag terminal from the regulator and fit to the common terminal on the meter (image attached)
Run the engine, the field coil will be fully excited, your meter may read 1.6amps (assuming a 7.5ohm field coil is fitted)
If no reading there could be a coil winding or earthing issue.

The alternator wiring (3 yellow wires) are not connected to the frame/earth
To test - low voltage continuity, any combination should read 0.4 ohms (yellow to yellow x 3)
If you can carry out a high voltage test (100-250 volt) - any yellow to frame/earth it would confirm that the 3 phase windings are OK
Due to age a number of Japanese classics alternators are starting to fail... Image Kawasaki alternator windings (S1'S2s KH250's)

Worked in the Aircraft industry 40+ years ago. Popular metal to metal adhesive was Araldite AV121. Never seen it for sale in small quantities. Grey in colour when set.
Very good glue providing surfaces are very, very clean.

Ken, try eBay number - 334659501624  it's my new listed CB550F1/F2 main wire  harness (as you mention, there is no F3, but there is a CB550K3 model)
All my looms are normally sold with a red identification & a black/white cotton label fitted to the harness.
Good luck with the sale - Alan

You’re correct about the K3 Ken. I will come back tomorrow afternoon with more information. All my records from past sales are in the workshop
