Title: CB400f - Magnetic Coil
Post by: Integra99 on March 16, 2018, 08:45:45 AM

Well the CB400f has taken a back seat as I cannot get it to charge.. so after 12 months work I've set it aside for a couple of weeks as worn out.. I can see how people lose interest at 99% complete of a build!

So finally pulled into the workshop, everything checks out and appears as it should. Apart from the Rotor.. it doesnt seem to be magnetised.. which must have an effect. it was working before the strip down.. stator all ok.

Any ideas why this may be the case? I've never seen this before.

The rotor 's magnetism is generated by the center coils receiving voltage via the regulator when the engine starts up

99.99% of charging faults are loose/corroded connections or a sticky reg

Hi,
there should be about 4.9 ohms between the two wires (white + green), but as Bryanj has suggested, connectors and the regulator are highly suspect on older machines
