Hi Guys and Gals. I've just got my hands on a 1971 CB500 K0 fitted with 069A Carbs and am really struggling to get it to run rich enough despite having rebuild them and fitted all new jets, etc. I am beginning to wonder whether these are the correct carbs for the bike? Any ideas.....

Have you got standard air filter and exhaust?

Are 069A's fitted to CB550/4 F models? Not sure if they are fitted to CB500/4 but most probably.

I thought the 500s all used 627B carbs?

I have just had a look at Trigs 500 and it has 627B's fitted.

Thanks for your inputs. I think that you are confirming that I've got the wrong carbs fitted!

What size jets?

I've put in the standard 100 main jet plus all the other bits as per the kit from David Silver! Fine for a 627B but not for the 069A's that I've got.
However, I've just bought a set of 627B's from the US so I can pop them in the Ultrasonic cleaner, swap over all the jets, etc, that I've just fitted then hopefully Bob's your uncle!

Hopefully Robert is your mother's brother.
For future info.Cruzimage do carb rebuild kits.
Very good products and not expensive

Can someone identify what is different (apart from jets/needle position) between 627Bs and 069s. I thought they were pretty much the same. I've got 3 sets of 627s and one set of 069s. And have used a set of 627s in place of 069s on a 550 with no problems.

Having just refurbished a set of 627Bs and a set of 069As, the only difference I could see, was the main and slow jets. (100 / 40 v 98 / 38)

Graham said the same... he has never been able to find any difference between 627B's and 069's other than jets etc

Well I'm still struggling to get the bike to run properly. Re-checked timing and valve clearances but she just feels starved of fuel. Float levels set at 22 mm and all new jets and even removed the fuel strainer and air filter to eliminate these as being a cause of the problem.
Was wondering whether it is possible to fit the emulsion tubes too high in the body of the carb so that the needle valve is closing down the fuel flow too much?
Any thoughts from anyone will be greatly appreciated.
