I'm considering a purchase of a cylinder block just now on two provisos, that it is still available next month and it can be repaired. As you can see there is some fin damage, I gather this can be repaired but would one need to also bring the bits that broke off and would it cost the earth to have the job done?
What you told me rules out the idea.

That could easily cost up to £150, maybe more. All the fins need chopping out from the top downwards, so you can get to where you need to be, and you would also need a donor barrel to cut some donor parts out to weld in. Why do you need a replacent George.

Hi Julie, a replacement is on the cards because my present block on inspection has one bore scratched if not all that bad by a broken piston ring, I think that the new piston rings that have gone in will reduce the white smoke at high revs ( it isn't very bad though). I just can't find anywhere to get a rebore in London so I considered plane swapping the block and maybe at some stage put the other on Ebay whatever.
I expect my bike back in a few days at last, I've been getting a bit frustrated maybe that is producing bad ideas lol.

It is a 400 Brian, but I've lost interest now.
